RESIDENT EVIL 5 IS LOADED WITH TONS OF HEART-PUMPIN’ ACTION!

Reviewed by Wayne “Mad Critic” Hodges – Ever found yourself trapped inside the borders of an African village full of flesh-eating zombies? If so, you’ll have little trouble relating to Capcom’s latest video game horror classic “Resident Evil 5.” The plot’s bloodier than Rocky Balboa’s nose after a boxing match. Nearly a decade after the destruction of Raccoon City, former S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team member Chris Redfield fills out a job application and becomes a B.S.A.A. agent. There you go. If you’re unemployed while reading this review; just go out and become a zombie-blasting strategist.

Anyway, in an effort to stomp out Umbrella’s creations, the anti-bio-organic weapon military organization travels the globe to seek out deadly viral creations; many of which have fallen into the hands of crazed terrorists following the collapse of the multinational pharmaceutical company. To quote Velma from Scooby Doo, “Jinkies.” When Chris receives word that a well-known weapons dealer is headed to the remote African nation of Kijuju to complete a big money deal, the fearless agent travels to the “Mother Land” to stick his nose in other people’s business.

Now, it should be noted; once in Africa, Chris learns about the mysterious doomsday project known as Uroboros. Immediately afterwards, he forms a partnership with the lovely Sheva Alomar, a local B.S.A.A. agent, and together they wage war against a swarm of infected villagers, horribly mutated creatures, and even series archnemesis Albert Wesker.

SPECIAL AGENTS CHRIS REDFIELD AND SHEVA ALOMAR ARE IN DEEP DOO!

I must admit; Resident Evil 5’s slow movement and gunplay will no doubt take some time getting used to. So, if you’re expecting an up-tempo, run-and-gun type game; you may be a little disappointed.  Fortunately, the slow movements aren’t a big issue within the game. After all, the enemies are just as deliberate with their attacks. Heck, I was able to sit down my controller, grab a Dr. Pepper, and resume play without a single hair being harmed on my character’s head.

Another important feature involves co-op play. Seriously, good teamwork is recommended when trying to kick the living snot out of the more-powerful enemies and bosses. Also, it never hurts to have someone watching your back; especially in ‘Zombie Land.’ As for inventory? Your character can store up to nine items. Hmm…I hear there’s no fast food restaurants in Kijuju. It would probably be Chris and Sheva’s best interest to squeeze a bucket of KFC’s famous hot wings into their traveler’s bag, ya think?

Nevertheless, this is a very solid horror title; loaded with tons of non-stop, heart-pumping action. The graphics are sweet. The weapons inventory is awesome. And the killing is stewed to perfection. What’s the rating? I give ‘Resident Evil 5′ a Super 9 out of 10.

Nice blog! I love the video game reviews. I have both a Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Resident Evil 5 is cool. And Silent Hill for X360 is a good horror title too.
