EVANGELIST GOLDEN LEWIS REMAINS BUSY UPON THE GOSPEL SCENE, by MassAppealNews.com
ROCHESTER, New York – As the founder of “Together As One Ministries,” traveling Evangelist and radio/television personality Golden Lewis has popped upon the scene nationally as one of God’s most coveted mouthpieces. Lewis, radio hostess of “The Golden Gospel Train,” has been in the broadcasting business for 13 years. She also produces and stars on the popular television program “The Golden Show.”
In addition to her media work, Lewis hosts an annual Gospel extravaganza every April entitled “Pressing Toward Your Vision Conference.” The event, held in Rochester, New York, continues to grow in popularity as evidenced by rising annual attendance. Recently, Golden took time to discuss her outstanding Gospel career with Mass Appeal editor Wayne Hodges. Their Q&A went as follows:
HODGES: Golden, first off, it’s certainly a pleasure to speak with you. I know you’re busy with projects right now. So, I truly appreciate you taking the time to discuss something dear to both of us: The Gospel. For the readers, can you paint an illustration of how you got started as a traveling Evangelist?
GOLDEN: Well, I started in 1991 as a participant in Dr. Bobby Jones’ Gospel Explosion. A year later, in 1992, I started preaching. And my career pretty much took off from there. My radio career began in 1995. And I started in television in 1999. Now, I travel the country to speak at revivals, women’s retreats, workshops and churches. And I’m grateful these organizations welcome my ministry.

Golden Lewis continues to spread the Gospel
HODGES: Can you talk a little bit about the inspiration behind your work. What artists, or perhaps songs, can you recall playing a role in your ascension to Gospel excellence?
GOLDEN: I would say Betty Wright played a huge role. Gladys Knight and Shirley Caesar inspired me as well. These were artists my mom and dad listened to when I was a kid. And I just sort of followed along in their footsteps. As for my favorite song? There’s a few. “I Choose You Lord” immediately comes to mind. “I Praise You Everyday” is also a wonderful song, and it won an “Armour Award” in 2005.
HODGES: What projects are you working on right now?
GOLDEN: I’m in the process of putting together a CD which should be ready the first quarter of 2010; probably in March. The first single, “I’m Calling On You Jesus,” will be performed live in Las Vegas at the Gospel Music Workshop (GMW) Board Meeting. And, of course, I’m getting ready for the upcoming “Pressing Toward Your Vision Conference” in April 2010. This is an annual event that takes place the third weekend of April.
HODGES: And, finally, what message do you have for young men and women with aspirations of excelling in Gospel music?
GOLDEN: Always have faith in God and live holy. Never compromise your relationship with God to make it in the music industry. Keep the Gospel sacred at all times. And please read the book of Mark 11:22-26. This is my favorite scripture. And hopefully these powerful words will have significant meaning to you too.
