NEW YORK – Rap star/entertainer Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs has decided to start his own university. I kid you not. The former record company intern-turned-celebrity aims to educate budding entrepreneurs by dishing out his keys to success in the entertainment industry. The proposed academic institution, which will feature several core courses in business, is scheduled to launch sometime soon in urban New York. “I want to have an academy that’s known for building leaders,” said an elated Diddy to CNN reporters. “I feel that’s one of the things I can have an impact on.”

Folks, I’m shocked. Really, I am. This is obviously a surprising endeavor for Diddy. But, very difficult to argue against. After all, the acclaimed hip-hop star has already built a multi-million dollar clothing and entertainment empire (Sean John and Bad Boy Records) and shows no signs of slowing down. In addition to building establishments, Diddy has evolved into an accomplished actor as evidenced by a recent cameo appearance on the hit television program “CSI: Miami.” He is also an integral part of MTV’s reality show “Making the Band.” And he owns a popular east coast restaurant chain called “Justin’s.” Yes, the terms Diddy and financial success are indeed synonymous. And it’s nice to see the CEO of Bad Boy offering key tips to young people with lofty aspirations of excelling in entertainment.

Speaking of young people, Diddy made it clear he’s looking to become more of a role model as his celebrated career advances. “I want to take on more responsibility,” said Diddy. “I’m still honestly in search of how I can have the most positive effect that I can have.” Well Diddy, I must commend you. Placing a business academy inside the impoverished-filled communities of urban New York is certainly a strong start to creating a more positive impact. Hmm…could Diddy possibly run for president? If he does, it wouldn’t shock me one bit.
