WARRYN & ERICA CAMPBELL CELEBRATE NEW BIRTH: Congratulations to producer Warryn Campbell and wife Erica Campbell, of Mary Mary, who celebrate the birth of their new baby boy, Warryn Campbell III. The newest addition to the Campbell family was born on April 25, 2010 and weighed 7 lbs 11 ounces. (Apr. 29, 2010)

BENITA WASHINGTON PREPS FOR NEW RECORDING: Female vocalist Benita Washington is set to return to the scene with her newest effort titled The Word Remains on June 29, 2010. Now signed with Shanachie Entertainment (home to Ted Winn, Vicki Yohe, and Kim Burrell), Washington has tapped Daniel Weatherspoon to produce the effort with Virgil Straford as musical director. This is the third project for the 2003 winner of Gospel Dream, who has also sung background for CeCe Winans, Juanita Bynum, and Anointed. (Apr. 28, 2010)

RICHARD SMALLWOOD & VISION READY FOR NEW ALBUM: Verity Gospel Music Group artist Richard Smallwood along with his famed choir Vision is in the studio working on a brand new project. The new album, titled Promises is slated for an October 27, 2010 release date. The six-time Grammy nominee’s last effort, Journey: Live In New York, released in 2007 and featured guest appearances from The Hawkins Singers, Chaka Khan, and Kim Burrell. (Apr. 29, 2010)

DOVE WINNERS ANNOUNCED: The 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards took place on Apr. 21, 2010 at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. Israel Houghton took home awards for “Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song” for “The Power of One”, while his song “Just Wanna Say” tied with Bebe & CeCe Winans for the honor of “Urban Recorded Song”. Smokie Norful’s “Justified” won the award for “Traditional Gospel Recorded Song” while Fred Hammond’s Love Unstoppable won the trophy for “Contemporary Gospel Album”, marking Hammond’s 9th GMA Dove Award. Other winners included Group 1 Crew (Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song), KJ-52  (Rap/Hip Hop Album), and Casting Crowns took home the award for “Artist of the Year”. The 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards premiers April 25, 2010 at 8p ET/7p CT on GMC. (Apr. 23, 2010)
