Gospel Minute: Top 10 Albums

SAPP IS HOLDING STEADY AT THE TOP SPOT OF MUSIC CHARTS, Wired from GospelFlava.com

ATLANTA, Ga – “Here I Am,” the latest release from Marvin Sapp, celebrates its seventh week atop the Billboard Top Gospel Charts. In addition, the release sits at #7 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Charts and #30 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums charts. WOW Gospel 2010  maintains the #2 position this week. Still from BeBe & CeCe Winans comes in at #3, while Karen Clark Sheard’s All In One moves to the #4 position. Love Unstoppable from Fred Hammond rounds out the week’s top five albums. In other chart news, Bishop Paul S. Morton’s latest release, Memorable Moments  jumps five places to #11, while the compilation project A Tribute to Bishop G.E. Patterson moves seventeen places to #16.

In the world of radio, Marvin Sapp’s “The Best In Me” spends its eighth consecutive week at the top spot on the radio charts. “They That Wait” from Fred Hammond & John P. Kee holds to the #2 position, while Earnest Pugh’s “Rain On Us” takes the #3 spot. “God Favored Me” from Hezekiah Walker & LFC featuring Marvin Sapp and D.J. Rogers takes the #4 position, while “I Wanna Say Thank You” from Lisa Page Brooks rounds out the week’s top five songs.

Micah Stampley Signs with Music World Entertainment: Worship leader and Stellar award nominee Micah Stampley has signed a management and recording joint venture with Music World Entertainment’s faith-based label Spirit Rising Music. Stampley’s 2005 debut release, The Songbook of Micah was the second highest debut for a male gospel artist in Billboard history, entering at #3 on the Top Gospel Charts. The producer and psalmist joins Brian Courtney Wilson, Trin-i-tee 5:7 and now Juanita Bynum as part of the Spirit Rising family. Stampley’s new album is due in stores later this year.

Darnell Miller Set for Live Recording: Guitarist and worship leader Darnell Miller is preparing to record his debut release titled One Worship. Miller was lead guitarist and an alumnus of Tye Tribbett & G.A.. The live session will take place on June 1 in Philadelphia and will feature several guests formerly of the energetic aggregation. Miller will continue to tour with Tribbett through the summer.

Juanita Bynum Signs with Matthew Knowles: Famed preacher and artist Juanita Bynum has signed both a recording contract and management deal with Matthew Knowles and Music World Entertainment. Earlier this month, Bynum released her latest effort More Passion. This deal sees her releasing another effort later this year titled The Diary of Juanita Bynum.
