Mass Comedy: Diva Sean Hill

KANSAS CITY – Life gotcha down? Are you in dire need of a few good laughs? If so, comedy Diva Sean Hill has all the skill necessary to quench your thirst for humor. A native of Kansas City, Sean has evolved into a mainstay on the local entertainment scene as she continues to expand her many talents into the world of acting. Recently, Sean sat down with Mass Appeal editor Wayne Hodges to reflect on her exciting career in comedy. She also took time to discuss upcoming shows and events. Their Q&A went as follows:
HODGES: What’s happening? It’s good to have you back on the network. Recently, you were in Tupelo, Mississippi to record a film. What’s the name of the movie? Can you tell us what it’s about? Inquiring minds would like to know.
SEAN: The name of the movie is “Comic Hustle.” And the film chronicles the experiences of Josh, whose fresh out of high school. He wants to become a comedian but his parents want him to go to Harvard. I play Josh’s mother, Gabrielle. And I try to persuade him to give up comedy and go to school. The problem is my husband Charlie was a comedian. And Josh tries to follow in his footsteps.
HODGES: The story sounds interesting. With a title “Comic Hustle,” I guess it’s fair to assume this is a comedy. Is my assumption true?
SEAN: Oh yeah. This is definitely a comedy. It’s hilarious. Trust. You will be laughing from start to finish. The cast is awesome. Comedian Bobby J is in this film. Sean Harris and Ricky Pryor are in it too.
HODGES: Sweet. I can’t wait for the release. Speaking of release, when can we expect to see the film? Also, is this a family movie? Or is the flic more suited for grown folks?
SEAN: Right now the film is being edited. I won’t have a release date until that’s done. Is this a family film? Depends on your view. Some people think “Friday” is a family movie. And that movie has some profanity and adult material in it. So it depends on your view.
HODGES: So what else is on your plate? Do you have any shows coming up?
SEAN: Yeah, I will be in St. Louis for a comic competition in September. The battles will take place from September 2nd to the 5th. If you visit seanhillentertainment.com, you will see a list of contestants. I also have a Gospel Extravaganza coming up on September 26th in Kansas City. So I’ll be busy the next couple months.
