Crystal’s Movie Review: Inception

A SUPER CAST, IN ADDITION TO SOLID ACTING, MAKE “INCEPTION” GREAT. By Crystal Booker
KANSAS CITY – This movie is “Inceptional!” Christopher Nolan has done it again as both writer and director of the film. Under his direction all the actors deliver brilliant performances. Leonardo DiCaprio once again plays a complex character. This time his character Cobb takes you on a journey inside of his mind. You see his thoughts, but you also see his issues and what haunts him. The memory of his dead wife Mal played by Marion Cotillard is very dominant and she gets into his dreams and sabatages them.
Ellen Page plays Ariadne, who is the Architect that unlocks his secrets and Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Arthur, who is his right hand man. Arthur goes with him into the dreams. Michael Caine plays Cobb’s father Miles, who also studies the art of inception, which is the ability to manipulate a person’s thoughts by entering into their dreams. During inception you can plant an idea into someone’s mind and that idea can become a reality once that person is awake. He is the one that introduces Cobb to Ariadne.
Each team member brings different unique vital components to the team that are essential for their mission to be a success. Ken Watanabe plays Saito, who hires Cobb and his team to manipulate the dreams of Robert Fischer who is a rich heir played by Cillian Murphy. His rich father is on his death bed and Robert needs to know that his father loved him. Cobb and his team help him find out those answers to his questions. The special effects are amazing because they defy gravity and reality.
The elevator scene where Arthur is pushing everyone and keeping them together is amazing. The stunts are excellent. The level of trust these characters have to have is just awesome! The way everything comes together is nothing short of genius. This film draws you in and does not let you go. It compels you to continue on the journey with Cobb. It’s rare that you find this in a film, but all the characters are likeable. Leonardo DiCaprio once again shows his brilliant acting ability. I am giving this film 5 out of 5 popcorn bags.
