Crystal: Going the Distance

“GOING THE DISTANCE” IS A ROMANTIC COMEDY WITH A WONDERFUL STORY, by Crystal Booker
KANSAS CITY, Mo – Drew Barrymore and Justin Long team up in this romantic comedy. Drew Barrymore plays Erin an intern that wants to be a writer for a news outlet preferably in New York. Justin Long plays Garrett a record company talent scout. In the film they meet and decide to get to know each other and hang out for the rest of her time there. Erin is only a summer intern so she must return to San Francisco to finish grad school. Before she leaves they spend all their time together. You can see the chemistry between them.
It’s interesting to watch them fall for each other. Garrett takes Erin to the airport and they decide to have a long distance relationship because neither wanted to lose the other. This film captures just how difficult a long distance relationship can be. At first they talk on the phone and text each other every chance they get, which tends to drive Garrett’s friends crazy. The scene where Garrett’s friend Box played by Jason Sudeikis takes his phone and literally destroys it is unbelievable. He is lucky Garrett is such a nice guy because most people would have given him the beat down without hesitation.
There are a lot of funny moments in the movie. The scene where Garrett’s friend Dan is on the toilet is hilarious because he is sitting there joining in a conversation. The guys aren’t the only ones that have the comedy cornered. Christina Applegate plays Corinne Erin’s older sister. The Nanny could take a lesson from her as to how to calm a energetic child. The scenes with Corinne and her daughter Maya played by Taylor Schwencke are absolutely brilliant. Every parent should definitely try her technique. It definitely works. This movie has something for everyone. It deserves 4 out of 5 popcorn bags.
