KANSAS CITY PLANT ACCUSED OF SHIPPING ADULTERATED POULTRY. By Matt Campbell

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KansasCity.com) – Two executives of a family meat company in Kansas City, Kan., were indicted Wednesday on charges of selling misbranded and adulterated poultry products across the country.

Craig Cunningham of Leawood was listed as general manager of the Hitchin Post Steak Co., 1101 S. Fifth St., and his son, Jason Cunningham of Olathe, as vice president.

Specifically, the indictment alleges incidents between March and December 2008 involving nearly 400,000 pounds of poultry products, including split broiler chickens, chicken leg quarters and whole chicken wings.

“Unbelievable,” Craig Cunningham said Wednesday, adding that he was unaware of the indictment. Jason Cunningham could not be reached.
