Rev. Rob: Twisted View

VIEW FROM THE PEW: BROTHAS & SISTAS, WE GOT IT TWISTED. By Rev. Adrion Roberson
KANSAS CITY – Father God, I ask that you give me the words to say. It is an honor to have this opportunity to speak what we believe to be the Truth that is written within the Scriptures. I pray for all those who believe, who are struggling with their belief.
I pray for those who were of the faith but for some reason have been hurt to the point of no longer having faith in You or Your Word. I pray for the church and the communities that they are to serve. I pray that the body of Christ will become what You have proclaimed for us to be…
Agents of Change.
Now give me what You would have me to say.
AMEN!
Alrighty then! It has been a loooong time since I had the opportunity to write in this format. Let me first say “thank you” to Mr. Wayne Hodges II for allowing me to do this. I do not consider myself in no way one who is a master of this medium style, but, I do believe that God has given me a particular gift to put into words what many may be wondering or are afraid to say.
This “view from the pew” is just that, a view of the happenings and issues from a biblical point of view (not the other way around). I ask for feedback! At the end of each column you will see, “holla back”. Please give me your feedback and input. Open dialogue has to be at the forefront of all that goes on with this piece.
So, here we go.
Let me make one thing perfectly clear, I am VERY PASSIONATE about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My prayer is that you hear my heart and my passion for the Truth even when it seems controversial. *Of which some of it will be. I understand it when the Word says, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God”. I Corinthians 1:18.
A little background on me. I AM A DOTTE! Yup, there it is..I said it openly. I was born in the Dotte, graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1979, went to the University of Kansas, *didn’t finish, and am now enrolled at Calvary Bible College majoring in Urban/Pastoral Theology.
I have THE most ‘beautifulist’ (no this is not a word) wife in the world (30 years) who has blessed me with three (3) strong sons, two grandsons, a beautiful daughter-in-law and potentially another one coming. A loving family and a host of ‘kids’ who call me..’pops’.
This is all overwhelming considering how jacked up I used to be. And to keep it 100, jacked up even as a youth director working in the church.
*We will get into that later.
The Lord just allowed me to celebrate another birthday. And again, considering what all I have been through and done in my life is another miracle that only Christ could have done. Trust me, I am not trying any way to get on a soapbox. But with all the retarded teaching coming across from the pulpit, people are getting away from the real reason we are to go to church in the first place.
That is to give praise, honor and worship to the One True God. Scripture tells us that we are to “Love the Lord thy God with ALL thy heart, ALL thy soul, ALL thy mind, and ALL thy strength this is the first commandment”.

Are we, as Christians, seeking the wrong blessings?
Somehow we got it all twisted that we ain’t blessed unless we are the biggest church, with the flyest preecha, (who really ain’t saying anything), the biggest Cadillac while the people are suffering in lack, false teaching and doctrine that causes weak believers to turn away and non-believers to say, “Why should I come there, y’all do and act the same way I do!”
We have gotten it twisted when we forsake God for other things. Trust me, I admit that I was as the Apostle Paul (one of the REAL ones) said, “Of which I am chief” a serious sinner. I LOVED TO SIN! How about you? And I will say it again, I was in..church.
Scripture tells us that God has made it very clear in Exodus 20:3 “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me”.
Yet we still get things…twisted.
I use the word ‘we’ to designate a specific audience. My primary target audience are those who are confessing Christ as their Lord and Savior. Those who may have forgotten that their lifestyles are a huge part of true worship.
Yes, Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. But do we not realize that a living ‘saint’ who is trifling in their walk with Christ is more valuable to the ploy of Satan than one who is literally dead?
Preachers having affairs, girlfriends fighting wives in the church, ON THE DAY OF THE LORDS SUPPER!!, men of God putting pictures on-line that only their ‘legal’ wives should see, preachers fleecing the flock for their hard change during the (5th) offering in Sunday service (seriously??) , national church leaders too afraid to speak out on issues such as homosexuality and abortions when both are right here in their own backyards and more than not, in the seats.
Oops, don’t want the tithes to stop rolling in now do we? Don’t want to embarrass the ‘mand or womand of gawd’ because they have a certain last name or a place of high regard…(sigh)
Look, let me set the record straight, I LOVE THE CHURCH, I LOVE THE BODY OF CHRIST, I LOVE THE WORD OF GOD and I say that before I ask God to check the church, check me first. If I have gotten it twisted and am blatantly out just doing what I want to do and still proclaiming ‘pastor’ or whatever, I need to be put on spiritual and natural…blast.
I need to sit down somewhere where Christ can put me back in right position with Him and not worry about right position with people. I will tell you some of the stories we have come across the last few years…and yet people are still I positions in the church and out of position with Christ.
Well, I pray that you will be blessed by this! I pray that at least it causes you to scratch your head and say..”hmmmmm??”. I pray that if it touches your heart, you will say, “Lord help me, I have gotten it twisted and I desire to get right with You, I repent”.
Occasionally, I will ask some of my brothers and sisters in the faith to guest write as well. We have what is called a ‘conservative view’ of Scripture. I will explain next week.
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, oh Lord my strength and my redeemer”. Psalm 19:14. We can’t afford to stay twisted church….recess is over. Holla Back!
