Shemar Moore says goodbye to Criminal Minds

Shemar is leaving Criminal Minds.

Mass Appeal Wire Reports

LOS ANGELES — Ladies, brace yourself. After 11 creepy seasons, Shemar Moore is saying adios to “Criminal Minds” so that he can travel, walk his dogs and start a family. Shemar, 45, starred as FBI special agent Derek Morgan since the show began. He completed his final episode on Wednesday (March 23). “It’s a weird experience,” Shemar said. “I just spent 11 years with a group of people and it’s a weird thing to walk away from — but I did it on my terms and in the right way.” Within the past few episodes… Derek was kidnapped, tortured and damn near killed before realizing his fiancée Savannah (Rochelle Aytes) was pregnant.

The couple did, however, get hitched shortly after Derek’s abduction, then Savannah gave birth to a bouncy baby boy. Shemar posted a video on to thank his fans for years of support. “This is not goodbye. This is goodbye to this part of a dream, this chapter. I’m not going anywhere,” he said.

Even though his exit comes as a shocker, Shemar ain’t the first original cast member to call it quits. Mandy Patinkin, who played Jason Gideon, left in 2008 after two seasons due to theatrical differences.

Did Shemar do the right thing?

Omg I knew you were going to leave and it breaks my heart. I will try to keep watching CM and keep an open heart but not seeing you every week just doesn’t feel good right now. I love JJ Reid Hotch Baby girl and my writer or simply the whole team but I wanted to see you be a husband and father on the show. Now I don’t know what to do after all these tears tonight was very emotional the relationships with the team was so real I couldn’t hold back the tears. You are a young man still and should have a wife and children so be careful but go far it. Love you so much xoxo. LT.

  3. Love Criminal Minds/Entire Cast & Crew! First, congratulations Shemar Moore, job well done! Last night’s epic episode, was pure excellence. You are loved, respected, cherished and supported. You’re supposed to be living a full life, with a family of your own. True fans understand, so continue to get your life and we’ll all be glad for that. You deserve it! You’re the best! Bravo and be well, my dear friend. Stay blessed. One ❤️!

  4. Boooo for us the fans, BUT yay for Shemar good for you. Thank you for the good out for Derek, he does not deserve anything less(except staying-but thats not that destiny now) sooooo for Derek enjoy that wife and your baby. And as for Shemar keep doing what you do best, acting, making your baby girls feel beautiful, keeping a level head, living in peace, and informing us fan where you go from here. Not gonna lie a couple of tears ?????fell when I found out my Morgan isn’t gonna meet me next week, BUT continue on to bigger and better adventures, and maybe, just maybe we(the fans) can meet up with Derek Morgan sometime in the not so distant future.

No no no.. He can’t leave he was awesome and so talented.. He will be missed the show won’t be the same without him.. Going to miss him.

  6. The chemistry he brought to the show will change drastically upon his exit. I stopped watching after Mandy Patinkin left, but came back and caught up. I found that the show could go on without a beloved cast member. I’m Glad he was able to go out on a good note. You will be missed!

  7. Shemar, I can’t even find the words to tell you how much I’m going to miss you on Criminal Minds. Thank God for reruns! I admire you so much and for so many reasons . You are a wonderful person, a beautiful and thoughtful man, a fabulous actor (LOVED you in Diary of a Mad Black Woman too). Your Mama raised one hell of a good man and I know she must beam with pride. She’s a lucky and blessed woman. I’m 60 years old, have raised two children and buried one of those children, my son. He was killed in a car accident two days before my birthday and four months before his own son was born in 2008. It has been a struggle to say the least. I’m assuming your Mama is sick with MS. You take whatever time you need to love and take care of her. Your fans will always love you and follow your story. God Bless you and your Mama. You’re both are in my thoughts and prayers.

  8. He is only an actor people. Get over it.

  9. he may just be a actor but he’s been on the show for a long time eleven years … people are use to it .. if you have nothing good to say then don’t comment .. we have a right to say how we feel… its called freedom .. If you don’t like what people write then don’t read the comments simple …

  10. Good riddance!

  11. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Please come back. 🙁

  12. gonna miss his sex appeal more than anything else

  13. I have watch him since his days on the Young and the Restless. I have loved everything Shemar Moore has ever done. The show will not be the same without him but I wish him only the very best and look forward to what he has in store for us on his journey through life. Love you.

  14. I hope they get Morris Chestnut as a replacement 🙂

  15. i luv u shemar

  16. Whooptie doo…… get a life people.

  17. I’m excited for him! I’ll miss him on the show, but I was watching a Justice League movie and heard him voicing Cyborg and screamed a little bit lol. After 11 years of hard work on a show, it is only fair to allow him the opportunity to shine elsewhere…
