Michael Strahan joins GMA team.
Mass Appeal Wire Reports
NEW YORK — In a surprise move, former New York Giants star Michael Strahan walked away from his cozy co-host gig on “Live with Kelly and Michael” to become an integral part of “Good Morning America” full-time. He’ll join the show’s regular cast of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Lara Spencer, Amy Robach and Ginger Zee. For the past couple years, the NFL Hall of famer worked two days a week at GMA — leaving midway through the show to join co-host Kelly Ripa at their TV studio on Manhattan’s upper West Side. Starting in September, Michael will work 5 days a week at GMA where he’ll earn $12 million per year — considerably more than what he made as a professonal football player.

“My time with LIVE with Kelly and Michael has been transformative, and my departure will be bittersweet,” Michael said in a statement. “Kelly has been an unbelievable partner, and I am so thankful to her and the entire team. I am extremely grateful for the amazing support I’ve received from all of the fans.”
Ratings for GMA are down 10% from last year.
Kelly claims Michael blindsided her with this move.
