Kimbo Slice dead from heart failure

CORAL SPRINGS — First Ali, now Slice. Mixed martial arts icon Kimbo Slice passed away prematurely on Monday at the age of 42. Word on the street claims he died from heart failure. The Rick Ross look-alike was hospitalized on Monday in South Florida. He leaves behind no wife and no kids. “We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family,” Bellator MMA president Scott Coker said in a statement.

“Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man,” Coker added. “His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans, and teammates.”
Law enforcement officials with the Coral Springs Police Department said Kimbo was transported from his South Florida home to Northwest Medical Center for undisclosed reasons. No 911 call was made but the circumstances surrounding Kimbo’s death are being investigated.
