Lip Sync Battle: Celebs honor MJ
Mass Appeal Wire Reports
HOLLYWOOD — Paramount’s Lip Sync Battle Live is absolutely off the chain. The celebrity imitation series kicked off its 4th season last Thursday at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre with a commemoration of the late Michael Jackson. Hailee Steinfeld, Laverne Cox, Taraji P. Henson and Neil Patrick Harris comprised the quartet given the onerous task to impersonate ‘The King of Pop.’ Taraji, who portrays Cookie Lyon on the Fox television drama “Empire,” rocked the joint with her hyped rendition of “Beat It.” Donning tight leather pants and a red leather jacket, the 47-year-old actress said she was merely grateful to receive a chance to be a “rock star for the night.”

Cox, best known for her prisoner role as Sophia Burset on Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black,” performed MJ’s “Dirty Diana” and get this… the transgender thespian has another music project already in the works. “I can’t believe I’m telling you this,” Cox said with a grin. “I actually recorded a song last summer and I shot a music video for it in December. And I’m probably going to release it soon.”
Lip Sync Battle is hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen.
The show airs 9 PM Thursday nights on the Paramount Network.
