Jennifer Hudson returns to roots.
Mass Appeal Wire Reports
LOS ANGELES — Jennifer Hudson has decided to return to her ‘Dream Girls’ roots and, in doing so, she’s showing the world why she’ll present a gigantic challenge to incumbent judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Miley Cyrus on season thirteen of ‘The Voice.’ During an appearance on Monday’s NBCUniversal Upfronts, J-Hud displayed superb vocals while performing a surprise medley from the 2006 biographical film ‘Dream Girls.’ Jennifer, if you recall, won an Oscar for her memorable portrayal of Effie White.

As for Monday’s show? The 35-year-old Grammy winner kicked off the two-hour extravaganza at New York’s Radio City Music Hall with snippets of “One Night Only” and “I’m Telling You I’m Not Going.” J-Hud’s performance comes on the heels of last week’s bombshell announcement that she’s earned her own red chair on this season’s installment of ‘The Voice.’
NBC Entertainment alternative and reality group president Paul Telegdy said the decision to hire the American Idol alum was a no-brainer: “Her exceptional skills as a singer and actress have extended to film, television and Broadway, which makes her an incredible addition and a natural fit for our show.”
Nice to see J-Hud return to her roots.
