Harry & Meghan hitched & happy.

LONDON — Tradition? Who cares about tradition? The only thing that matters is Britain’s Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle got hitched on Saturday (May 19), and they cemented their nuptials with a canoodle on the outside steps of Windsor’s St. George’s Chapel. They’re now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. As anticipated, the ceremony was nothing short of spectacular. Thanks to Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller, Meghan stole the show in an elegant white gown that featured a 16-foot veil and an open bateau neckline. She then broke tradition by sauntering halfway down the aisle unchaperoned, perhaps to concoct a proclamation that’s consistent with her feminist principles.
That wasn’t the only surprise.
Chicago-based bishop Michael Curry raised eyebrows with a fiery oration that goes against the paradigmatic conservatism of a British royal wedding. Moments later, Harry and Meghan shocked many with their selection of Ben E. King’s classic “Stand by Me” as the wedding anthem, performed by a gospel choir.
Oprah Winfrey, David Beckham and George Clooney were among the many big names in attendance. However, Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, couldn’t make it. Instead, he decided to stay in California to recover from heart surgery. “My baby looks beautiful and she looks very happy,” Thomas told TMZ.
“I wish I were there and I wish them all my love and all happiness.”
Congrats Harry and Meghan!
Now it’s time to start making royal babies.
