LeBron makes his third big decision.
Blog King, Mass Appeal
LOS ANGELES — After a few days of rumination, prized free agent LeBron James has decided to take his talents to the West Coast. King James is joining the storied Los Angeles Lakers on a 4-year, $153.3 million deal. The ‘Decision 3’ was announced Sunday through James’ agency, Klutch Sports Group. This is the second time James has spurned his hometown team during free agency. If you recall, he left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in 2010 before returning home four years later. “Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible 4 seasons,” James posted on Instagram. “This will always be home.”

The King did, however, bring the championship-starved city its first world title in 52 years. Trailing 3-1 in the 2016 NBA Finals, the underdog Cavs rallied to defeat Golden State — becoming the first team in NBA history to overcome that type of deficit. “Words do not express the meaning and the feeling this accomplishment brought to the people of Northeast Ohio,” said Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert in a lengthy statement praising James.
“None of this would have happened if LeBron James did not agree to come back home and lead the Cavaliers to the promised land. LeBron is a family man, first. We wish his kids, his wife, Savannah, his mother, Gloria, and LeBron himself nothing but the best in the years and decades ahead.”
Since returning home, King James has brought more than $500 million to Cleveland’s economy. Now that he’s gone, several property owners said they’ll probably close their business.
