Mom jailed after children drown.

LELAND, Miss — Jenea Monique Payne, 25, was thrown behind bars after the dunderhead damsel let two of her three babies die in a excrement-filled creek. The fatal calamity transpired Monday afternoon in Leland, Mississippi. That’s where Jenea left her three children alone inside an SUV while she took her slipshod ass into a convenience store. When she returned several minutes later, the truck was gone. Jenea left the keys in the truck with the engine running.
Her eldest son, 4-year-old Steve Smith — who was sitting in the front passenger seat — shifted the gear into neutral — causing the SUV to roll into Deer Creek. Steve’s siblings, 2-year-old Raelynn Johnson and 1-year-old Rasheed Johnson, were both strapped to car seats in the back.
Moments later, firefighters and police officers dived into the mucky tributary to rescue the kids. After busting out a few windows, they were able to save Raelynn. But the two boys didn’t make it. Jenea was arrested and charged with two counts of negligent manslaughter and one count of child neglect.
When asked why Jenea was charged in what could be construed as an accident, Assistant Police Chief Marcus Davis said: “She ended up leaving three minors unattended for a length of time when she went into the store, that’s illegal in itself. That was part of the negligence that led to their deaths.”
Do you agree with him?
Does Jenea deserve jail time?
