NEW ORLEANS — Tyrann “Honey Badger” Mathieu is much more than an All-Pro defensive back for the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. He’s also a reality TV star. Mathieu and Bleacher Report released a new four-part docuseries titled “The Landlord” that chronicles the pecuniary hindrances of four families in New Orleans who are affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Mathieu is a proud native of “The Big Easy”and he attended St. Augustine High School. During an impromptu Zoom chinwag with each household, the Honey Badger saves the day by offering to pay everybody’s rent. He certainly has the cash. As a sought-after free agent, Mathieu signed a lucrative 3-year deal with the Chiefs last year, worth $42 million and the acquisition paid immediate dividends. The Honey Badger was instrumental in helping the franchise secure its first world championship in 50 years.

After becoming a Heisman Trophy finalist at LSU, Mathieu was selected in the third round (69th overall) by the Arizona Cardinals in 2013 NFL Draft. He also played for the Houston Texans. For Mathieu, it’s been one helluva offseason. The 28-year-old safety was recently featured in a “Black Lives Matter” social activism video along with teammate Patrick Mahomes and several NFL stars.
