ATLANTA — Reality TV star NeNe Leakes laid her husband’s soul to rest on Labor Day with a tear-jerking ‘Celebration of Life’ ceremony in Atlanta. Gregg Leakes died “peacefully” on September 1st following a strenuous bout with booty cancer. He was 66. Ernest Dukes, their publicist and longtime friend, issued a statement. “Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart,” he wrote. “After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes. We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very very difficult time.” Monday’s star-studded homegoing was hardly private. As a matter of fact, everybody and they mama showed up and that includes ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ stars Lisa Wu, Phaedra Parks, Marlo Hampton, Porsha Williams and Eva Marcille. Kenya Moore and Cynthia Bailey didn’t attend the event. Both were recently fired from ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta.’
Gospel performances were delivered by Keke Wyatt, Yolanda Adams, Kim Burrell and Le’Andria Johnson.
NeNe, 53, also shared a photo that shows her canoodling with Gregg.
The image contains the caption: “Today we celebrate you Gregg with love, just the way you wanted it💔.”

@Brown Sugar Babe: My cousin passed last month from what started as colon cancer. Colon cancer is one of the easiest cancers to cure and one of the most deadly in that people wait too long to speak up when there is something wrong. My cousin let it fester I’m quiet until it had already spread. Black men make up 50% of all men that get prostate cancer. Again, not wanting to speak up about constantly needing to urinate because they don’t want anyone messing around back there 😔

Gregg was an outstanding man who treated all the ladies of RHOA with respect and loved a woman who tried her hardest to make herself so hard to love and he did it with understanding and unconditionally. He was a funny. He was smart. He was a good man and he will be missed.

I utterly loved Gregg and his positivity. Very few celebrities really clutched my heart like Gregg and NeNe. They are like the people’s couple. I pray NeNe recognizes she was THAT GIRL, THAT RIDE OR DIE. My heart, my thoughts and my prayers are truly with she and her family.
