Texas rapper and daughter killed at Slappy’s car wash

FOREST HILL — The adventures of Pookie & Ray Ray continue. Adonis Robinson, 24, and his sidekick, 21-year-old Jakobie Russell, are facing the death penalty after they deleted 30-year-old rapper Ronnie “G$ Lil Ronnie” Smith and his 5-year-old daughter out of jealousy. The double murder transpired around 10:45 a.m. on March 3, 2025 at Slappy’s Express Car Wash in Forest Hill, Texas — just 30 miles west of Dallas. According to reports, Ronnie and his daughter, R’Mani, were cleaning out his car when Adonis and Jakobie pulled up in a white Kia and opened fire. Ronnie took off running, leaving R’Mani behind. Adonis and Jakobie egressed the vehicle and chased Ronnie across the parking lot before shooting him multiple times. Seconds later, Adonis and Jakobie approached R’Mani and emptied their clips. Paramedics responded and provided CPR.
But it was to no avail.
Ronnie and R’Mani were pronounced dead at the scene.
A large crowd showed up, forcing police to call in backup from neighboring agencies to keep things under control.
Two days later, Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez used surveillance footage to identify Adonis and Jakobie as the shooters. “Now we have identified the two cowards that took the lives of these innocent people,” Hernandez told reporters. “They’re scared, they’re cowards.” Adonis and Jakobie were arrested and charged with capital murder which means they’re facing either the death penalty or automatic life sentences. Ronnie’s aunt, Stella Houston, said her nephew didn’t have beef with anybody.
“He didn’t target nobody. He was a family man and he was going around rapping. OK?” she vented.
“Why would you target him? Why would you target him? He didn’t bother nobody. And a baby? His baby?”
Adonis and Jakobie warned Ronnie to stay away from the car wash.
But he called their bluff and went anyway.
Ronnie brought R’Mani with him, thinking they wouldn’t try to do harm in the presence of a child.
Both shooters have criminal records.
Adonis, a non-compliant sex offender, was released from prison in August after he sexually assaulted a 55-year-old woman in 2021.
He must be registered as a sex offender until 2034.
Jakobie served time for beating the sh*t out of a pregnant woman.
He was also jailed for illegal gun possession.
Detectives found 30 shell casings at the crime scene.
