Watching this movie, I went from, this is a good movie, to this is decent, to this isn’t bad to what the hell am I watching in about 30 minutes. Then the ending came and I went to why the hell did I watch this movie.

He forgot to throw in a rape scene. That’s literally the only terrible thing that did not happen to her. It was a bad movie.
Honestly this could have been a great movie, just don’t know what went wrong with the screenwriting, the movie was all over the place & too busy to follow & connect with the main character, the cop who drove into her earlier ended up being the main character of the movie & we totally lost the connection with the mother. There was also no reason to make the mother shoot the manager, should have made her threaten to shoot if He doesn’t sign the check, love all of Tyler Perry’s movies but this one I’m so disappointed because it could have been a great movie if everything was put in the right place.
This is about mental illness and showing compassion for others because we never know what someone else is going through…. Also you don’t know what was really happening and what was in her mind. She didn’t rob the bank…. She asked for her money from her check. You never know how someone will react when a gun is in your face. Now I do agree the screaming during the eviction was well too much……
This movie failed at making me feel sorry for black people. Instead I feel my opinions of lots of blacks have been vindicated. Less than 10 percent of the USA population is black yet about 50 percent of inmates in the USA who committed violent crimes just happen to be black… Blacks need to clean themselves up and stop blaming whites. Pussy shit. Stats don’t lie. No accountability or responsibility….
Over the years, I have watched several Tyler Perry movies and tuned in to some of his television projects. Some good, some not as good. Ultimately, what I realized is that in watching his projects, I had to be mindful that I am not his target audience and should temper my expectations accordingly. It’s like watching Lifetime expecting to see Gladiator. So if I choose to watch his films…it’s usually without criticism or judgment. Straw in my opinion, is a good reflection of what Tyler’s likes to achieve in his storytelling and filmmaking.
Tyler Perry knows his audience and caters to them. More importantly, no other filmmakers are doing similar projects on a consistent basis, so he has that market cornered. That’s why good, bad, or indifferent…his projects will be successful.
I stopped watching Tyler Perry productions, be it movies or TV more than a dozen years ago. He’s made millions upon millions of dollars playing on the scrambled minds of blq ppl in order to enrich himself. And might I add that I believe he’s a useful tool bcuz I don’t think this would be acceptable to be distributed to any other culture. But since everyone knows the blq culture is in shambles, the ppl w/true power just look the other way. This will be studied 100 years from now.

I watched it last night with my wife. Although there are a lot people out there going through what she went through in real life….this was a damn Horror Movie! Lol!

Typical Tyler The hateful dark-skinned brothers. They all were terrible to her What kind of negotiator was the FBI guy? I’ve never seen a movie or tv show where the FBI talked to anyone like that. No AC, no apartment, hateful boss, customer throwing glass, boss blaming her, bad car, accident, threat from police, get fired, sudden rain, stuff on the street, no check, robbery, no ID, child removed, no money for lunch. Banks usually close around 5pm. This was the longest day ever.
This was a great movie. But leave it to some ninjas, to tear it down. I dont do tyler movies, but I thought it was great, can we just support without tearing each other down? If we could figure that out we’d be a dangerous race.

His movies are like peeking out of your window on trash day and watching your trash bins moonwalk and electric slide over to the garbage truck, jump up into the hopper, empty themselves out ,then break dance back over to the side of your house. Yes, that shit was entertaining but it was garbage!! I think he called it straw because that was the device he used to deliver the cocaine to his bloodstream when he wrote this shit 🤣

If anyone says this movie is stupid, they stupid. Have you been a parent and can’t feed or provide basic needs for your child or children, can’t provide proper shelter or on the street with kids, i can say it may seems over the top,but mental break can happen it may not happen this way, but if you don’t see the benefits someone can have bad things in a day, all i see in this movie is what can happen when you broke and uneducated and working minimum wage, and life is not giving you a break that what I get from this movie.😤
