Frank White gets recalled, ousted as the county exec

Frank White got the boot/KMBC

White out as county exec.

KANSAS CITY — “How the hell you get fired on your day off?” You can stick a fork 🍴 in Jackson County Executive Frank White because he’s done. After 10 years of service, the Kansas City Royals legend was recalled by voters on Tuesday — marking the first time in our region’s history a county exec was jettisoned from office. And, get this: It was by a landslide. Roughly 85 percent of voters said, “Get the f*ck out!” While a measly 15 percent wanted him to stay. In case you’ve been living under a rock, residents and legislators have been pissed at White for years. Mainly because it’s their contention he’s most culpable for drastic increases in property tax assessments as well as the failed stadium sales tax vote that transpired last year. More than 42,000 disgruntled mothaf*ckas signed a petition to have White removed, and they got their wish. The baseball ⚾ icon, who helped the Royals win the 1985 World Series, got his ass kicked on the ballot.

85 to 15.

Wow!

White, 75, showed class in defeat. He issued this statement: “Tonight, I acknowledge the results of the recall election and respect the decision of the voters of Jackson County. I want to thank the people who showed up to vote, and I want to thank my staff, my family, my friends, and especially my wonderful wife Teresa. I would not have made it this far without her support, patience, and motivation.”

Serving as County Executive has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together to strengthen our community. While questions remain about the process that led to this election, I will move forward guided by gratitude for all this community has given me and by the drive to do what is right.”

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas also released a statement saying, “As the largest city in Jackson County, Kansas City will work closely with the interim county executive, the legislature, and their team as we all work to ensure progress and fairness for the county, the city, and our taxpayers. Frank White’s life story is a remarkable one for a kid hailing from Kansas City’s East Side to becoming a star in big league ball. He has meant much to this community over the past 50 years. I wish him well on the next phase of his journey.”

It should be noted… there were no murders, shootings or stabbings in the City of Champions.

The night was crime free.

Everybody was too busy celebrating White’s dismissal.

Bars were satiated with watch parties.

Taxpayers cheered when the results of “Question 1” were released.

Some sipped champagne 🍾.

White never stood a chance.

What’s my take?

I served 30 years as a real estate appraiser and tax assessor in Kansas City.

So, I’m certainly familiar with property valuations and market analysis in Jackson County.

And I can honestly say those property tax increases that people are bitching about ain’t White’s fault.

Homeowners are gonna find that out when they get their tax bill in November.

The failed stadium tax vote also had nothing to do with White.

Voters had a chance in April 2024 to vote “yes” to ensure the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals would remain in Jackson County and they checked the “no” box on the ballot.

I also lament the fact that White was the first county exec in regional history to get recalled.

Look… I’m a big, strong, black n*gga capable of snappin’ the scruff of any mothaf*cka I encounter.

It irks me that the first exec to get jettisoned is a negro, because it makes me and my people look bad.

I’m definitely pissed.

White had already announced he wasn’t running for another term.

Why the recall?

Anyway… Tammy Brown, Director of the Jackson County Election Board, said voter turnout was low.

Did residents make the right decision?

Was White treated unfairly?

  1. He’s been beefin with the Royals for years. They got him canned.

  2. @Will Alexander: Taxes will remain high. That won’t change one bit.

  3. Frank helped the Royals win a World Series in ’85 and residents showed their appreciation by voting him out. Ungrateful mofos.

  4. I agree with Frank. Billionaire owners should pay for their own fuckin stadiums.

  5. Let me get this straight. The first county executive to get recalled is a black man. Why am I not surprised.

  6. Doesn’t matter if he’s recalled, they will replace him with another executive just like him.

  7. About time Jackson County, maybe we won’t be homeless anymore. My kids are hungry Mr. White.

  8. It was surprising when Jackson County voters voted for Frank White to manage the county’s finances, when the man has difficulties managing his own finances and his own home had gone into foreclosure at least one time. smh

  9. They did Frank a favor. This is the most dysfunctional county. He should sell his house in Lee’s Summit and move somewhere nice.

  10. They want frank out of there so they can bury the Taxpayers and sacrifice anything to retain the royals… while destroying small business for kickbacks from large developers. Sadly all those business owners will be back on the news in a year going out of business completely… IF you only give incentives to large developers to build rental property’s the taxes is probably going to go up for homeowners and small business… Just the Fact that Power and Light has NEVER been profitable and does not even pay for itself should be a pretty clear indication of whats going on… You think that streetcar pays for itself?
