NEW YORK — “🎵You’ve got to know when to hold ’em. Know when to fold ’em.🎵” This week’s “I F*cked Up A Good Job Award🏆” goes to Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier who were arrested on Thursday for masterminding an NBA gambling scandal that rocked the sports world. Both were “placed on immediate leave from their teams.” FBI agents also arrested 32 other people, including former Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach Damon Jones. Billups, 49, and several mafia members took part in a nationwide scheme to rig poker games with “high-tech cheating technology to steal millions of dollars from victims.” Them n*ggas used poker chip tray analyzers and tampered shuffling machines that relayed information about players’ hands to an off-site operator. They also wore special glasses and contact lenses “that could read pre-marked cards, and an x-ray table that could read cards face down.”

Ain’t that a bitch?

While playing for the Charlotte Hornets in 2023, Rozier, 31, tipped off longtime friend Deniro Laster about leaving a game early with a “purported injury” so he can make bets against Rozier playing well. Laster and his partners, Marves Fairley and Shane Hennen, then “used that confidential information to place and direct more than $200,000 in wagers predicting Rozier’s ‘under’ statistics.”

Prosecutors said:

Rozier exited the game after nine minutes, with many of the bets paid off, generating tens of thousands of dollars in profits. Laster collected the cash and drove through the night to Rozier’s house, where they counted the profits together.”

Damn, that’s f*cked up.

Jones, 49, leaked medical information to bettors about the injury status for Los Angeles Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

When the Lakers played the Milwaukee Bucks on February 9, 2023, Jones knew beforehand LeBron wouldn’t play with a sore ankle so he sent his co-conspirator the following text, “Get a big bet on Milwaukee tonight before the information is out!”

Jones did the same damn thang on January 15, 2024, when Davis got hurt before the Oklahoma City Thunder game.

Billups, Rozier and Jones are charged with wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering.

If you recall, former Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter received a lifetime ban from the NBA in April 2024 for disclosing confidential information, rigging games by point shaving, and placing bets.

Referee Tim Donaghy got 15 months in prison for betting on games he officiated and providing inside knowledge to gamblers.

So the NBA is a hot ghetto mess.

The NFL and Major League Baseball are equally corrupt.

That’s why it’s foolish to take sports seriously.

  42. Terry Rozier is being paid $ 26 mil this season and has career earnings of $160 million. Most of these players lack financial literacy and spend money recklessly and foolishly. They are dumb jocks. That’s the truth. Instead of learning/ taking finance, investments, etc courses in the off season they are smoking weed and spending money foolishly. Smh.

  44. 88 billion dollars a year spent on gambling apps globally, with that magnitude of money involved, there is simply no way the games are legitimate. Every sport is tainted. This is something most sports fans have suspected for a very long time.

  47. All it takes to cheat in NFL is a coach or quarterback or key defensive player to do something. The Seahawks decision in the Super Bowl on the goal line with seconds left to throw a pass rather than give the ball to an unstoppable Marshaun Lynch? Atlanta Falcons blowing a 20 point lead in the Super Bowl after absolutely owning the Patriots in the first half? Nothing suspicious about that, huh? Baseball Commissioner Kennesaw Mountain Landis was right regarding the way he handled the 1919 Black Sox scandal. No tolerance for gambling. Lifetime ban. Screw with the game and you are out of the game. Baseball, and every other sports league needs to look back at that and distance themselves from gambling, not be hopping in bed with the gambling industry.

  49. As for the NFL, don’t forget, people, that Donald Trump has a 40 year grudge against the NFL from the time they wouldn’t let him in with his New Jersey Generals. And he doesn’t have to frame anything. The league has been crooked at least since the 70s, which is when I started watching, and they just have to pursue the evidence. I stopped watching in the early 90s. And I’m not saying this because I’m a sore loser bettor. I’ve never bet on a football game.

  50. Once everything is out in the open professional sports will be no different than WWE. The only thing that will change is sports betting and sports viewing will take a dive because everyone will know its fake and rigged! The money invested in sports will take a hit too, which it needs to because these athletes shouldn’t be making a 1/4 Billion dollar contracts to be actors and rigg games while at the same time not telling the public who are placing bets. They call that a scam and I expect the lawsuits that are to follow are going to be massive and justifiably so!
