Clase and Ortiz indicted in baseball gambling scandal

Caught red-handed/YouTube

Clase & Ortiz busted.

Blog King, Mass Appeal

BROOKLYN — Here’s another reason to eschew getting emotionally involved in sports. Thanks to gambling, everything’s scripted… just like a movie. Star closer Emmanuel Clase, 27, and starting pitcher Luis Ortiz, 26, of the Cleveland Guardians are facing a lengthy stay behind bars after they were caught rigging games so bettors can profit. The cheatin’ sumbitches were indicted on November 9, 2025 in Brooklyn Federal Court and they’re charged with wire fraud conspiracy, honest services wire fraud conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy and conspiracy to influence sporting contests by bribery. Clase and Ortiz are on nondisciplinary paid leave, and they’ll stand trial on May 4, 2026. U.S. District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto will preside. Prosecutors claim Clase and Ortiz accepted thousand of dollars in bribes from a pair of gamblers in their native Dominican Republic to throw pitches of certain velocities for prop bets. The co-conspirators won roughly $460,000 in wagers.

Clase started providing inside information about his pitches in 2023. Then, he recruited Ortiz into the stratagem earlier this year. If convicted, them n*ggas are lookin’ at 65 years in prison. Social media reaction was vicious. One commenter wrote, “You’ve got to be out of your f*cking mind to gamble on sports. Every sporting event I watch on TV is flooded with gambling ads and sponsorships. League owners and bookies are in bed together, working in cahoots. That’s how you know games are rigged.”

Another chimed in with:

Point shaving goes on all the time in the NFL and college football and the games are fixed on the fly, in real time.”

A third person added, “Gambling is more dangerous than drugs in my opinion. You can lose all your money the first night gambling. You can’t do that with drugs.”

Clase, a 3-time All-Star and 2-time American League Reliever of the Year, is on the 4th year of a $20 million, 5-year deal.

Ortiz had a salary of $782,000 this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani is also involved in a gambling scandal.

FBI agents have already launched a probe against the NBA and NFL.

Now they have Major League Baseball within the crosshairs of their point shaving rifle.

Watch the fellas make a court appearance and more.

  1. Padres top relief pitcher Robert Suarez walked in 4 batters in a row in the 9th this year and blew a 5 run lead what a blatant fix that was.

  2. If only MLB had figured out 100+ years ago that gambling on baseball could be a problem. 😊

  3. These leagues deserve ALL of this. You all got in bed with these gambling companies that you swore off for 50 years and you railed against it. You Deserve it for such blatant hypocrisy. take the mafia people down finally.

  4. The games are rigged for sure and it takes the fun out of the childhood game

  5. You know what this means? Bet on the underdogs! They always pay off the favorite so they make money on the good odds underdog.

Just kidding. Dont gamble. You will have a net loss. And the longer you do it, the more loss you will have.

  6. This confirms my dislike for sports! Not only are they anti-American, but they are making sure the fans question the outcomes of the games. Great job.

  7. I said when they started legalizing gambling….it would get EVEN MORE CORRUPT. Nobody really cares about baseball or basketball. NFL is screwing themselves too

  8. The rich players don’t need the money…it’s the thrill of the chase. To have the power to play (god) and control
the outcome of the game. It’s a mental disease👽

  9. I can now COPE, and declare that EVERY TIME I LOSE A SPORTS BET, it’s because it was rigged! LOL 🙂

  10. I can make it make sense. Millionaires do not have access to their own money and the wealthy generally have no need of cash in their pockets. Their money is tied up in God knows what-real estate, investment funds, escrow accounts, who knows. Everything is done for them-dining, socializing, work-their every need is taken care of by others. They don’t do their own shopping, somebody probably drives them around. When a chance at real cash, especially tax-free cash off the books, comes their way, it’s real cash in their hands, and they jump on it just like any of us would despite the fact they don’t really need it and will probably just stash it some place for the secure feeling it may give them. Even the richest among us fear poverty no matter the wealth they have. Even the wealthiest person can easily outspend his own resources and in a short time too, and the wealthy especially know this.

  11. It’s only about the money … not about the sport of competition … no sport TEAMS anymore, just sport corporations .
No surprise, we’ve become a world of cheats.

  12. Maybe they should look at the WORLD SERIES in 2025.
The networks wanted the DOGERS TO WIN, NOT THE BLUE JAYS, ESPECIALLY IN 7 GAMES.
How many games were won in the 7, 8 or 9th innings?
I think the % of games won in 7, 8 or 9th innings must have increased 10 fold. 😮
EVERY SECOND COMMERCIAL ON T.V. WAS FOR A BETTING SITE!
    Follow the money! 😮

  13. I hope this is the beginning of the end of overpaid athletes. If it’s fake, it’s meaningless.

  14. Just goes to show ya , some of these professionals are dumber than a box of hammers 🔨 🔨 😢

  15. Gambling sites are spending billions on advertising at the same time that baseball producers are claiming massive new audiences. Like baseball suddenly got interesting again. Things that make you go Hmmm.

  16. Why is it the business of the government to waste resources policing gambling? If MLB, NCAA, NBA, NFL are worried about the “integrity of the game” then they should use their own resources not taxpayer dollars. Law enforcement should go after kidnappers, drug dealers, terrorists etc…

  17. Hell…. What U expect? They allow gambling advertising ON THE FIELD and UNIFORMS

  18. And yet MLB had the unmitigated gall to ban Pete Rose from the Hall of Fame for betting on his own team to win. You deserved better, Pete. That hit record will never be broken.

  19. If one paid attention to the strike zone calls in world series especially game 5 you could see it was rigged, dodgers knew they were winning, just tried to make it watchable, athletes love to gamble, this org. crime will always have them in their pocket and don’t blame Cosa Nostrand there’s a little group above them that controls legal and illegal gambling and all casinos, who was Moe Green, do your research

  20. @Joseph Brown: If Pete Rose bet on the reds to win, it means he bet against the reds every time he didn’t bet on the reds to win. It means he tried harder to win certain games. quite possibly risking player injury and the long term success of the team.

  21. There’s no law against a league “fixing” games, only the players. The NFL categorizes itself as entertainment instead of competition so it isn’t held up to government oversight as a competition, there’s more government oversight on game shows than NFL games and every week the NFL meets with officials to tell them which rules are to be “emphasized’ that week. Rules that hurt some teams more than others depending on the teams style of play. It’s openly fixed, but the players are the only ones that suffer the consequences.

  22. The real scandal is that the betting companies generate more profit than the professional leagues by taking away the money from the people with a system that IS rigged against addicted betters.

  23. If millionaire athletes can be corrupted for thousands of dollars, can you imagine how easy it must be to corrupt a college player?

  24. Rigging sports betting supplies 90% of the Mafia’s money now. Much less risk than drugs.

  25. Considering what these pitchers were paid to pitch in the MLB, and the small amount they were paid to give up pitching info to gamblers, they have to be the stupidest fuking people on the planet.

  26. NBA, NFL, NCAA, & MLB? Is anyone looking into NHL, MLS, & NASCAR? There are probably many more sports betting scandals out there waiting to be uncovered.
