Mo’Nique issues warning to chicks who use GLP-1 drug

GLP-1 shots risky.

ATLANTA — “🎵Girl, you looks good, won’t you back that ass up. You’se a fine motherf*cka, won’t you back that ass up!🎵” Ladies… if you’re contemplating the use of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, better think again. That’s because Mo’Nique has concerns about long-term effects. The 58-year-old comedienne disseminated an emotional video imploring corpulent chicks to think twice before partaking in the latest weight-loss trend. “What [are] the long-term effects? What will it do to your body? Your mind? What will it do to us five years from now, 10 years from now?” said a melancholic Mo’Nique. “You may get down to that size two or size four or that size eight or whatever that thing is. But I would ask you to research what you’re putting in your body.” In case you didn’t know, GLP-1 injections are FDA approved and the administration entails periodic jabs 💉 in the abdomen — resulting in a significant loss of appetite while reducing blood sugar. Users lose an average of 15% body weight.

The drug has become incredibly popular, thanks to promotion from high-profile celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Serena Williams.

“They got us caught up in trends,” Mo’Nique ranted, referring to the influence of big stars ⭐ who market the drug. “They’re taking away our willpower. They’re taking away our fight. They’re taking away our ability to say, ‘I believe in myself, I’m [going to] trust the process.’ Love yourself enough not to be tricked. Because we’re so easily tricked… I’m not judging nobody’s decision because it is yours.”

“I’m talking to the babies out there that is questioning things,” Mo’Nique continued.

“Love [yourself] enough to trust your process.”

Social media reaction was wild.

One commenter wrote, “So many people want the overnight quick fix of success instead of taking each step day-by-day, one at a time.”

Another chimed in with, “Shut up Mo’Nique! Who anointed you? My GLP-1 shot cured my hypertension and diabetes and has me looking like Halle Berry at 125 pounds.”

A third viewer added, “Monique is right! There is no magic pill, shot, or surgery. Some may get temporary help with those methods, but the long-term effects aren’t always good. Everyone skinny is not healthy. Everyone is not going to be skinny, either. People have different genetics, metabolism, and lifestyles. Each individual should do what’s best for them and not what others think. I have a gland issue. I’ve changed some habits and started walking a lot. I’ve lost over 100 pounds and I’m still losing. However, I’ll never be tiny and that’s fine with me.🥰”

What say you?

Should women use GLP-1 or stick to diet and exercise?

  1. I refuse to take that stuff, there are a few ppl who I know are suffering from the side effects. In the hospital unfortunately. It’s ashamed how much they are pushing it.

  2. If you stop using it the weight will come back. Do it naturally. Go through the pain 💜

  3. It causes muscle wasting. The people I know who use it look elderly in their 40s. They lost weight, but they also lost muscle mass and bone density.

  4. People look like they’re dying, I know it will have Bad long-term effects my people!

  5. Every time I consider taking these shots something pops up that makes me second guess 😭

  6. Medicine of any kind always has the potential to have short and long term side effects. You always have to weigh the pros and cons. Some people have major life threatening issues that make the weight loss drugs a better option than waiting for the weight to come off through the traditional means. Some people have done all the things (calorie deficit, fasting, keto, carnivore) and still can’t lose weight. The point is to be mindful and monitor your health throughout the process and not stay on the medicine any longer than you need to. If you use the medicine to loss weight, don’t use it to sustain. At some point you have to manage the weight on your own, barring any other health issues that might be preventing that, we are not all the same.

  7. We put chitterlings and ham hocks and hog mogs in our bodies pushing us over 200 lbs giving us high blood pressure and diabetes ….yet we continue to put it in our bodies so why not take a chance with GLP1😝😝😝

  8. Yesss , yall better WATCH “Phat Girlz” or whatever it was was with her in it. It wasntgoooood

  9. Oh shut up Monique you tried it and it didn’t work for you, your a devil like the rest of Hollywood shut up

  10. Monique is right, I was taking wegovy weight loss for 3 months after the 2nd month it started to make me nauseous and vomit. Everything that look good ain’t good. I learned that when you put in the effort and time to truly focus on your health and it’s the small things that add up to big things. There is nothing wrong with working out and changing your diet to loss weight the natural way it may take longer but you don’t have to worry about what’s being put in your body.

  11. I am not saying the message isn’t on point. I also can’t say drugs would be for me as a male who could lose weight easily within weeks if I were sufficiently motivated. However, I am sure that for some this drug could be a lifesaver and the right option. There MAY be side effects but we also can look at it from the Covid vaccination perspective…does the possible long term side effects outweigh the benefits overall (particular when it comes to life and death)? Cause the side effects of carrying extra weight are numerous, well documented and deadly serious.

  12. My concern is that they are passing it out so freely, it use to be so difficult to get a doctor to prescribe weight loss meds but now you 5 lbs over weight you get a pen like WTF! I do believe there will be side effects as all meds have them but it’s a reason why they are giving it out so freely 💁🏽‍♀️

  13. If you can’t get down to a size 2 no matter how hard you try, maybe your body was just not designed to be a size 2. Everyones’ biology is different. Not everybody bigger is sick, and not everybody skinny is healthy.

  14. Preach auntie! Aint falling for it! I’ll be fat and happy long as I’m healthy!!!

  15. I lost weight by praying and fasting. Asking the Holy Spirit to transform me from the inside out. Thank you Jesus 🙏🏾🙌🏾

  16. Anything you see celebrities push, you need to be side eyeing. Notice a lot of celebs is on Ozempic and don’t even need it. Now they all look 20 years older in the face. Skinny is not equivalent to healthy. Change your diet and exercise. There is no easy way out.

  17. Dual-Board Certified Nurse Practitioner here, GLP-1 Agonists have been researched and utilized to manage metabolic diseases such as diabetes for over 20 years, first discovered in 1984. These medications are not new in the science/medical world, they have just become trendy to the general public. They improve insulin sensitivity, thus reducing insulin resistance. They also decrease inflammation in the body. They therapeutically impact weight loss and cardiovascular health. All medications carry risks, which is why EVERY medication you take should be monitored by your health care provider. Some people need these medications to manage chronic diseases, including the Chronic, progressive disease of Obesity (classified since 1948 by the World Health Organization, finally recognized by the American Medical Association in 2013), which ranges from Class 0 to Class III. 49.6% of African Americans are obese, the highest among the nation, with Black women being more prevalent at 56.9% and have higher rates of diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. As a Black health care provider, I have seen these medications become life changing for our community. Yes, it is important to change your diet and implement exercise along with the medication therapy. But, it is intellectually dishonest and a hinderance to our community to demonize medications that have been scientifically proven to manage chronic disease.

  18. One thing I’ve learned about trends, if the world is promoting it, “watch out”.

  19. I refuse to lose weight any other way except God’s way. Proper diet, exercise and rest! Thanks Mo❤

  20. My doctor asked me if I wanted to get the shot……NOW, mind you, I’m there because I am having issues with my left arm. Come to find out it is arthritis. Having other issues and you want to do what? I am good. look what they did to weed. Just destroyed God’s beautiful plant.

  21. I agree with her 100%…I see so many people at my job that were heavy weight a couple months ago and now they are so slim. They have lost weight drastically by taking weight loss pills and shots. If you want the weight to stay off do it naturally and learn self discipline!!

  22. Hello ladies. Alot of our weight comes from insulin and estrogen dominance when going thru the men all pause..we just have to do other things to detox that excess estrogen..u can google estrogen dominance in women.

  23. She knows something that she can’t really say. Everyone should take her warning seriously.

  24. Lets talk about the vaccines, prescription drugs ppl pick up…lets not miss out on everything. Because everything has some shit that comes with it.

  25. Monique is absolutely right, next thing you know people will be walking around with two heads from that shit… Especially if you don’t do your research.

  26. GLP-1s have been used and studied for over 20 years now. They have helped millions lose weight ,become healthier and get their lives back. I don’t knock anyone who chooses to use them or anyone who decides not to. How you choose to become the healthiest version of yourself is your choice. Amplify the benefits as well as the side effects.

  27. Mo was unhealthy until a man had to tell her to get healthy. GTFOH!!

  28. Monique got a problem with everything…if that’s the case then she needs to tell people to get off blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, etc. Why folks got no problem with any other meds but hate it when folks improve their lives with Ozempic?

  29. Put the same energy into losing the weight as u put it gaining it. Anything can be obtained by hard work find that self motivation.

  30. If you don’t change your habits a shot or pill won’t help you. If you stop taking the shot you will gain all the weight back without self control which is also a fruit of the spirit Galatians 5:22. We need God to helps us with everything. ❤i went from 193 to 131 in 2 years with the help of God prayer and fasting.

  31. Our ancestors are constantly trying to connect with us, to warn us and guide us. Years before weight-loss drugs became popular, I had a dream where my ancestors specifically told me never to use weight-loss injections. In the dream, they showed me the outward beauty people appeared to have after taking those drugs, but they also warned me about the hidden dangers beneath the surface. The message was clear: don’t be deceived by appearances. They cautioned that these substances could cause serious harm, even diseases like cancer in the long run.

  32. It’s amazing how these people went all out on the COVID shot, fighting people snatching off masks, threatening public officials and now are swallowing these random drugs just to look good .This is all crazy

  33. I agree when using weight loss drugs just to lose weight. But its a drug designed for specific illnesses with weight loss as a side effect. People looking for quick fixes will always have bad repercussions. Im a diabetic with high cholesterol and high blood pressure and this drug almost has me off three drugs. I didnt have significant weight loss. I had some but it was because I changed my eating habits and incorporated walking and working out. I was so against ozempic until I was faced with the choice of a shot a day or a shot a week.
