“And it’s not just the money,” Debra said. “It’s also just feeling like this person has ambition. They’re moving towards something. They have joy in their life. Imagine if you’re sitting in front of a screen all day playing video games, [doing] online betting, you have no goals, you don’t get dressed… I don’t imagine someone like that to be very happy.”
“But so many women are going out with guys like that. Is that because there’s just nobody else?” Bill asked.
“I think so,” Debra replied.
“Those women may feel like they can help this person… but that just leads to resentment over time or it’s because like the messaging from society is women are doing so great, that’s ok, you can be the primary breadwinner🍞. You can take care of this man, he doesn’t need to take care of you. That’s sexist if you want a man to take care of you. I see a lot of that in young women. I feel really bad for them because I don’t see that ending well.
“Especially if you, as women, continue succeeding in life because, like you said, women are doing so well occupationally and in education and they’re outgraduating men. And if you’re with a guy who’s struggling with his mental health, say he has low testosterone, say he’s watching porn every day, so he has no motivation to do anything sexual… I mean, that’s not going to be a very good future for either of you.”
Because they’re spending the majority of their youth in class or in a cubicle, many women are waiting too long to start having kids.
“Young women are taught to ignore biology or that they can somehow override their biology — which is not true,” Debra said.
“So this is what you have happening where women will get into their late 30s or even into their early 40s and be surprised when their fertility is not the same ’cause they weren’t aware of this and now they’re trying to find a partner… Women get shamed for that. But I don’t think it’s necessarily their fault. It’s like society’s telling them you have all the time in the world. Starting at teenage years when you’re on the birth control pill…
“There’s this illusion that women have as much time as they want… Single motherhood by choice is becoming more popular where women can… go on the internet and buy sperm and impregnate yourself and have a baby on your own. And this is what I see happening that both sexes are going to continue bifurcating, instead of saying, ‘hey let’s try to make things work and find solutions that are actually solving this problem of people not pairing up,’ we see women going in this direction of saying, ‘we don’t need men.’ And men are saying, ‘I’m going to get me a sex robot and be done dating.'”

Truthfully; society blames those who don’t have relationships on the individual but doesn’t look at the financial challenges, the fact that working 40 hours plus a week doesn’t allow for people to actively seek out to date. There is a reason that people seek out companionship in A.I. robots and it’s deeper than just personal faults. Finding happiness is one’s right in life and if it doesn’t harm another person there is no reason for others to try and fault them. Most often it’s the case that people are jealous of others finding happiness.
Thank God I met my wife in 2012, right before the explosion of Tinder and countless dating/hookup apps.

I’m an ambitious man in my 30’s, I make good money, and like to think I’m generally an enjoyable person to be around, but haven’t been able to find someone. I believe this is in large part because 1) I’m a conservative and 80% of women immediately cross me off the list for that reason, and 2) I’m only 5’8″ so a large chunk of women on dating apps filter me out with their listed preferences without ever talking to me, and 3) I’m not religious, so many of the smaller pool of conservative leaning women also rule me out. With just those 3 factors I’m working with an extremely small pool of prospects, and these are things I can’t change unless I start being fake religious, or totally upend my career to move somewhere that isn’t so ideologically dogmatic with their politics.
It’s tough out there for both men and women.

There’s nothing in it for most men because the awesome guys are just going to make all the money anyway and regular guys just get saddled with a house they can’t afford and a wife that just wants to be made to feel happy or whatever. Being single is just a better deal. Cheaper. And there isn’t someone around constantly nagging me about my thoughts and feelings. I just get to work at my job, go home, smoke weed and chill, read and play music, write a story, maybe play a video game before bed. And yeah, sure, maybe there’s some adult entertainment in the mix there because biological necessity. Honestly, why would I ever want a girlfriend, though? If only the deal were sweeter somehow. If only it seemed like I wasn’t going to get completely financially screwed over by the whole thing and die buried in debt. Incentives, y’all. Gotta be incentives. You can’t just rely on people doing what you want them to do. I’m not your slave, I’m just a guy.
