Billboard’s Top 10: Cardi B back on top, fans are livid

NEW YORK — “🎵I see my opps linkin’ up, I’m like, ‘What in the f*ck?’ If you scared, then just say that, ho, enough is enough.🎵” For the third consecutive year, Billboard’s editorial team ranked the “10 Hottest Female Rappers Right Now” and (Drumroll🥁)… Cardi B came in at No. 1, followed by Yung Miami at No. 2, Sexxy Red at No. 3, Monaleo at No. 4, Doechii at No. 5, Latto at No. 6, Trim at No. 7, YK Niece at No. 8, Molly Santana at No. 9, and Megan Thee Stallion inexplicably dropped all the way to No. 10. Here’s what Billboard had to say about Cardi’s rise to Numero Uno: “Last year, Cardi B emerged as the last woman standing following a remarkable comeback campaign. After a seven-year hiatus, the Bronx superstar reclaimed her spot atop the conversation, reminding hip-hop why she’s one of its defining forces with her Billboard 200 No. 1 album, “Am I the Drama?”

The biggest head scratcher is Nicki Minaj who’s nowhere to be found despite receiving 12 Grammy nominations throughout her 20-year métier. GloRilla was also snubbed in spite of her 6 Grammy nominations. Social media reaction was wild. One commenter wrote, “Whoever made this list is smokin’ crack.” Another chimed in with, “How the f*ck is Sexxy Red 3rd and Megan 10th?”

A third person added, “As far as I’m concerned, when Nicki left she took female rap with her. The only one on the list that’s valid for me is Latto and KenTheMan who’s not even on there.”

I don’t have a take because when descrying the list, I’m only familiar with half of ’em.

But I find it interesting Megan Thee Stallion and KenTheMan are named after the male species.

Do their monikers insinuate they’re transgender?

If so, they should be evaluated as men.

Also, when observing images of the rappers, I can’t believe how much black women have changed the past 40 years.

If you go on YouTube and watch any TV show or music video from the 80s and 90s, you’ll see black chicks with no body art wearing their natural hair.

Today, a lot of ’em have piercings and tattoos while donning lace front wigs.

There’s a tremendous difference.

Anyway, what say you?

Did Billboard get it right?

If im not mistaken this is the first time they put Cardi B at number 1 , I mean… YES 😂 but putting meg so low makes it seem like they did that sht to piss people off Cardi and Meg are close to one another so this makes no sense logically it should have been Cardi then Meg and so on… not like this, so FAR APART that was deliberate!

  21. Doja Cat should’ve been on this list. I don’t like the fact that she’s always left out of the rap conversations when her rap skills are superior to most of the other women on this list. Doja also put out an album for 2025. Yes, it’s very pop coated, but she still raps.

    her background is PURE hip hop. she doesnt have the backing of latin america which is heavy. cardi has support from multiple groups. cardi is #1 tho. megan is a clear #2.

  28. Tierra Whack, Monaleo, Docheii, Trim, Megan are top for me. I like Cardi B a lot, but I don’t think she can rap that well. Latto is overrated. I also believe they do move the goalposts when it comes to Megan the Stallion. Sexyy Red is HORRIBLE!! She can’t rap. She has no hits. Nothing. I think her connection to Drake is what’s going on here. Billboard is very pro-Drake.

I firmly believe Meg shouldn’t be ranked at 10, but I also think her core fans don’t like considering she hasn’t proven herself as a critically acclaimed, good music maker… certified by gatekeepers of hip ho. She has a few hits, but she’s mainly respected for her ability to flat foot spit and freestyle. What Meg needs is to release an album that’s a front-to-back listen and includes two more mega bangers/hits. From there, she’ll be good to go. Until then, the constant feedback is that the brand and raw rap skill are there, but the masses aren’t sure the music is measuring up. I believe she can and hope she does deliver on the next album. Let’s go Meg. Deadass… bring that heat!

Gah damn 😂 never even heard of shorty until Drake put her in the big spotlight lmao but then again, Drake has put a lot of rappers like ASAP, Kendrick, Lil Baby, Migos, etc in the big light. Drake doesnt get enough credit tbh, idk why we hate on dude now that i think back on everything

  34. It’s called “hottest” female rappers , not best rappers. How Megan going to be higher when she’s not put out anything of substance within the last year? Cardi has a number one selling album ( Cardi was the last female rapper to have had a number one album in recent years) and a sold out tour. Not to mention booked and busy headlining. So yes she’s the hottest right now. The list always changes based on who’s running it. The last single Megan dropped crashed and burned. Even her fans didn’t like it.
