LOS ANGELES — “🎵No, you’re never gonna get it. Never ever gonna get it. No, you’re never gonna get it. Never ever gonna get it.🎵” A viral video shows En Vogue’s Dawn Robinson revealing she’s been homeless and residing in her car the past three years. Confidentiality be damned, Dawn put her destitution on blast via YouTube. “People are like, ‘You shouldn’t talk about it, because you’re a celebrity, and what if they judge you?” said the 58-year-old songstress. “So what if they judge me? Life is life. . . . part of being human is being vulnerable. You guys, for the past three years, I have been living in my car. I said it, oh my gosh, it’s out.” Dawn stayed with her parents in Las Vegas for 5 years. But her mom was such an asshole, she decided to take shelter in her automobile. “I felt free,” Dawn said. “It was so different. I felt like I was on a camping trip. It just felt like it was the right thing to do.”

Dawn performed alongside En Vogue members Cindy Herron, Terry Ellis and Maxine Jones.

Their song “Hold On” won the award for ‘Top R&B Single’ at the 1990 Billboard Music Awards.

Dawn had a bunch of money.

But, somehow, lost it all.

Social media reaction was wild. One commenter wrote, “She has no one to blame but herself. She can’t get along with anybody. Her ex-husband, manager, her own mother and her bandmates. She’s the problem.” Another chimed in with, “Nobody from En Vogue reached out to help her. Tells us all we need to know.” A third person added, “Damn. What’s f*cked up is because of Trump, she can’t get food stamps or Section 8.”

Surprisingly, Dawn doesn’t regret being a vagrant.

For what it’s worth, being homeless has made her a better person.

“I’m learning who I am as a person, as a woman,” Dawn explained.

“We say we can’t do certain things before we even know that we’re capable. . . . I’m glad that I made this choice, because I needed to go through this fire.”

Do you feel sorry for Dawn?

Should she get a job like everybody else?

  1. She’ll be alright. In a few years she can get her social security. God is with her. Amen 🙏

  2. She is so talented. Someone in the business who worked with her when she was on top needs to reach out to her NOW. Put her on their next album. She’s amazing!

  3. Damn in her prime Dawn was Bad AF she is a legend, get back with En Vogue and get back on tour but it seems like she burnt down a lot of bridges they’re probably not interested at all

  4. Shes delusional trying to normalize her predicament! Still trying to figure life out at her age is sad! Living and fighting with her parents while in her late 50’s is abhorrent

  5. See, I don’t understand…… Because if this is the case, then why not tour with the group and get paid enough money to change this situation?

Man idk,…. but I just pray that her situation gets better… This is unbelievable 😔🙏🏾

  6. A lot of women have homeless problems because they refuse to settle for anything less then a top 10 dude

  7. No disrespect, but why didn’t she buy a house when she made all that money?

  8. I wish she would have stayed with her parents, im pretty sure they wouldn’t have mind helping her out, where’s her celebrity friends? When you are down they are supposed to help you until you get back on your feet

  9. She’s actually smart. Leave all materialism behind and become humble. As long as she keep God first, she will be just fine.

  10. SOUNDS LIKE LAZINESS. IT’S A REASON WHY THEY KICKED HER OUT OF EN’ VOGE

  11. I wonder how she’s surviving far as food and gas. This is soooooo effed up in every way. Not to be two faced or cold but im just wondering…. does she have trust issues with ppl? Does she feel like ppl are just out to get her. Its something psychologically going on with her

  12. She did not manage her money properly and had a bit of a “Diva” ego. That’s my take on her situation. At the same time, I do feel sorry for her.🙏🏿🙏🏿

  13. I REALLY HOPE that a GoFundMe can be started for Dawn.

I hope somebody in the industry can help her.

There should be something like ‘Artists Helping Artists,’ where artists, singers, actors can go to for help.

Sadly, fame can be fleeting…you’re not ALWAYS going to be on top.

Record companies…it’s like a LOT of them do their artists poorly and they seem to forget that without the Artist, where would they be?

I want EVERYONE to be able to stand on top and have a good life!

Record companies need to DO BETTER and Artists need to STAY SMART!!!

Wishing Dawn all the BEST and that she sees her way through these hard times…☺️😇😌.

  14. She was my favorite member of the group ! I cannot believe this , this is crazy . So after all those albums they sold she don’t have any savings to live off of . Crazy . I wish her safety and security .

  15. Strong independent woman right there😂😂😂😂 she should rethink her whole life and get a man

  16. If the government can seize your house to expand an airport or build a strip mall, it can seize vacant housing and put unhoused people in it. Unfortunately, capitalism is all about profits, and it’s not profitable to let people live in houses and apartments rent-free or for a fraction of the asking price.

  17. Even Snoop Dogg said when he was with death row he didn’t make much money until he signed with master p, most actors and actress from classic movies only made like ten grand for some classic movies, you be surprised if you look up people’s net worth from the 80s and 90s

  18. I remember Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest had a line in one of his verses saying “I used to have a crush on Dawn from En Vogue…it’s not like honey dip would wanna get with me, but just in case I own more condoms than TLC.”

  19. WHAT DO WE AS BLACK PEOPLE EXPECT.. JUST LIKE AFRICA.. MESSING WITH THE SAME PEOPLE WHO OPPRESSED YOU.. IM NOT SHOCKED.. I EXPECT IT. ITS BLACK PEOPLES FAULT FOR LACK OF UNITY AND SELF AWARENESS.

  20. Black folks need to start reading contracts! We’re walking around here saying we don’t need degrees and education, but we do bcz it teaches financial literacy and economics.

  21. Seems like there may be some mental health challenges with our Sista…Hoping she heals and get the help she needs!

  22. Being a woman alone on the streets is no joke. Any woman choosing so has a questionable mental state.

  23. Sometime we have to go through the storm to see the rainbow… 🌈 wishing her nothing but the best🙏🏽 hopefully Netflix will pick up her story👍🏽

  24. Well she damn sure has aged well. I wish continued success for her .

  25. I believe shes difficult. If youre living in your car it tells me you have burning bridges behind you.

Why dont she get a better paying job like we all have to do to avoid sleeping in our car

  26. IDK, y’all…Dawn is giving me “always the victim” tease. Same thing my daddy bady does! Fired from every job he’s ever had…estranged from most family members & friends….but, somehow…it’s never him!!! He, too, is basically homeless (with his dogs) & taking showers at a gym!!! I sense “AntiSocial Personality Disorders” at play. Mental help professionals are probably needed!!

  27. My advice to Dawn put everything in storage and join the cruise ship circuit. What cruise ship wouldn’t pay for her talented voice. Get some money together and get a small place once you have cash because credit is difficult to come by when finances are setback

  28. DAWN IS HER OWN WORST ENEMY. IM SICK OF HER. IVE WATCHED HER ON R&B DIVA’S BACK IN THE DAY. SHE THOUGHT THE GRASS WAS GREENER
SHE DID THE GROUP UGLY AND KARMA MET HER ASS AT THE DOOR. GO AWAY DAWN. NOBODY CARES!!!
