PITTSBURGH — The adventures of Pookie & Ray Ray continue. Law enforcement officials in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania are investigating after a mass shooting took place at the interment for 20-year-old John James Hornezes Jr. The chaotic ordeal transpired around noon on October 28, 2022 inside the Destiny of Faith Church at 3737 Brighton Road. According to multiple reports, masked gunmen entered the building and opened fire into a crowd of mourners — turning the House of God into a war zone. Five shots initially rang out, followed by another 15 rounds. Relatives, friends and parishioners ran for cover. Many attendees hit the floor — not for prayer, but to dodge bullets. Five people were shot and transported to Allegheny General Hospital in stable condition. Another victim was transported to Pittsburgh’s Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

John — a gang-banging thug — was among three people shot dead on October 15, 2022 near a bus stop on the city’s north side. The other victims were 33-year-old Jacquelyn Mehalic and 59-year-old Betty Averytt. John was the intended target. Jacquelyn and Betty were killed in the crossfire. Samuel Pegues, Charron Troutman and Jaylone Hines were charged with all three murders.

What’s sad is John’s family members received death threats prior to the funeral, so they asked the police department for protection.

But officers were inexplicably dispatched to the wrong church.

Social media reaction was wild.

One commenter wrote, “Where was Black Lives Matter?”

Another chimed in with:

I couldn’t imagine being at a funeral and this happens. One of the saddest things I’ve ever seen. Them cops didn’t care for real or they were scared because they knew it was going to get bad. They wanted to save their own lives.”

A third person added, “They sent the police to the wrong church on purpose.”
