Barbers losing customers ’cause haircuts expensive

Barbers going broke.

ATLANTA — “This is the barbershop!” If you’re thinkin’ about pursuing a métier in the hair care industry, better think again. That’s because a viral video shows a pissed-off barber admitting he’s having a hard time finding customers. Barbershops used to be therapeutic, a place where fellas can talk sh*t about any and every thang while gettin’ groomed at an affordable cost. Now it appears barbers have priced out the clientele. Haircuts used to cost $10 to $20. Today, neighborhood barbershops charge between $50 to $300. Yikes! Inflation is a bitch! It’s simply cheaper to visit Walmart, buy some clippers and cut your own damn hair. Not to mention beta males are patronizing beauty salons in lieu of barbershops to get hair weave, braids and GLH-9 spray-on coiffures. “So I’ve been in a barbershop going on two months now and here’s a little update,” the barber said.

I’m not going to lie and act like I didn’t know this was going to happen. But bro, it is definitely hard. It has been super slow. It’s days where I might go five hours without getting a haircut, six hours. Maybe the whole time I’m in the shop I don’t get no haircut. Some days I might get three. I might get one, or I might get zero.”

What’s sad is that n*gga has done everything from a marketing standpoint to increase business. Yet, his chairs are empty. “I’m out here passing out business cards,” he vented. “I’m putting it in somebody’s windshield or I’m putting it in somebody’s hand. I’m passing out business cards, bro. And, I’m sticking flyers up. And, I’m posting content. And, I’m trying to get referrals. But, still, it has been slow. I did the math. All I need is at least 50 to 60 clients who come in twice a month and I’m set. And people tell you it takes a year for you to get that. You know what I’m saying? For you to get consistent clientele… But the reality is these folks [are] not going to come in.”

Business is so non-existent, the barber is contemplating shutting down the shop to start a new career.

“I’m not gone lie. I don’t know what to do,” he said.

“But I’m not finna sit around. I’m low-key thinking about going to get my Cybersecurity Certification. But if anybody has any advice… please let me know.”

Social media reaction was hilarious.

One commenter wrote, “Y’all charge too damn much. $60 for a cut just for it to grow back in a week😂😂😂.”

Another chimed in with, “Brothas get an online certificate to be a barber and think they just earned a PHD or a Doctorate from a prestigious college😂.”

A third person added, “I charge $40 a cut and $50 with the beard. People always like to bring up, ‘Man I remember when haircuts were $10 to $20.’ Yeah, I remember when gas was $1.50 a gallon and rent was $600 a month. Everything has doubled or tripled.”

Do you feel sorry for barbers?

Is it time for them mothaf*ckas to lower their prices?

Watch homeboy bitch and complain.

  1. Shit cost an arm and a leg. No thank you 🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

  2. If this muthafucka cut hair like he speaks then fuck that. I dont want no slow ass haircut. 😂

  3. These fools be trying to charge 50-100 plus tip per cut like if it doesn’t grow back within 3-4 days

  4. That’s what these clowns 🤡 get. I don’t care what marketing you do. People gonna look at a 300% price jump and say fuck it.

  5. I personally don’t feel bad at all for these barbers . They over priced themselves and now want to cry about it . 😂🤣😅

  6. The bigger problem now other than cost is appointments. You never needed an appointment B4. It was straight walk in. Everyone is trying to book the same hours. People work.

  7. These dudes charging $50 for a cut and crying about not having clients.

They want to live a luxurious lifestyle off cutting men’s hair, its time for them to get a wakeup call.

  8. Many of today’s barbers have put themselves out of business. When they were charging $20 they were cutting 2 to 3 customers per hour. Then they got this crazy idea to charge $50+ per customer and the shop is empty most of the day.

  9. Barbers have priced out the average customer. Haircuts used to be $15 to $20 when I was growing up. Now you have barbers charging $50 for cut. Like what? Barbers should learn to charge by the volume of the hair they’re cutting or the complexity of the haircut. If you’re out here charging a flat rate for a lineup at $50, you’re out of your goddamn mind! It’s a dying field to go into now that everyone can just learn how to cut their own here by watching a few YouTube videos. I’m not a license barber, but I learned how to cut my own hair and I cut my own family member’s hair now at no cost! It’s just a hobby for me.

  10. I shaved my shit off a long time ago. I’ll be damned if I pay $100 for a cut.

  11. Barbers did this to themselves and I don’t feel bad at all for them 🤷🏾‍♂️ to the men: learn how to cut your own hair. Been doing it since the pandemic. I never went back. Not even once

  12. lol if you charging me that kind of money, you better shampoo and condition my shit lol

  13. Years ago My barber went from charging me 20, to 25, to 30 THEN $40. Ever since then I went and spent $300 on a clipper set. Never been in a shop since. Best investment ever.
