WNBA lost $40 million yet Angel demands equal pay

Angel says ‘pay us’ or we won’t play/Sports Wars

Angel has lost her damn mind.

Blog King, Mass Appeal

CHICAGO — Here’s an entitlement story fo’ yo’ azz. Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese set the internet ablaze when she insinuated WNBA players are prepared to go on strike if they don’t get a pay increase, even though the league has lost money every year of its existence — including deficits in excess of $40 million this season. Angel is making $70,000 per year whereas the average NBA player earns almost $12 million annually. “We deserve more,” Angel told Dallas Wings guard Dijonai Carrington on her ‘Unapologetically Angel’ podcast. “Pay us more or we won’t play.” Because the WNBA never turns a profit, the league is subsidized by the NBA. Commissioner Adam Silver addressed a report that owners are frustrated with the WNBA’s pecuniary losses and the lack of a financial return on their investment. “This season the WNBA will lose $40 million, a bit better than the $50 million forecast and reported by several media outlets months ago but still a loss,” Silver said during a press conference.

“We are all one integrated business… We’re working with WNBA owners, WNBA owners that also own NBA teams, and then more broadly the NBA owners on what the right valuation of WNBA teams are going forward, what the best way is to operate that league.”

Social media reaction was hilarious. One commenter wrote, “Ironically… if WNBA players were to sit out, this would be the first time they save money.” Another chimed in with, “Nobody gives a f*ck about women’s sports. Hell, women don’t care about women’s sports. It’s time to deep-six the WNBA.” A third viewer added, “Pay them more with what? The delusion and entitlement are ridiculous.”

Angel, who moonlights as an Instagram model, pays $8,000 per month in rent for her lavish Chicago apartment.

She even admitted she’s “living beyond her means” despite having endorsement deals with Wingstop, McDonald’s, Raising Cane’s, PlayStation, Amazon and more.

Do you agree with Angel?

Should WNBA players get more even though the league continues to lose money?

Watch Angel make her case, then watch comedian Bill Burr trash the WNBA.

  1. The only women who I know watch women’s sports are my ex gf’s lesbian sister and her wife. And even they said it’s mostly lesbians who watch that stuff.

  2. She’s lucky that the WNBA is still functioning. Every year, the WNBA is in a deficit of $ 25 million, which the NBA has to cover every year.

  3. I think the problem is that Angel Reese identifies as a pro basketball player, but she’s not.

  4. WNBA is one of the worst investments in my lifetime. Someone doesn’t understand marketing!

  5. When is the last time you saw a comedian deliver a more powerful message than a preacher lol

  6. Shes right the WNBA doesn’t pay any of her bills, it’s the NBA who pays all her billsface-green-smiling

  7. To be honest, I would be more interested in a WNBA strike than a WNBA season.

  8. I was 18 when the WNBA started..I’m 47 now and that league has never turned a profit.

  9. The WNBA is a case study in the mindset of westernized women who demand everything but bring nothing to the table😂

  10. Happy life = no wife.
Girlfriends!! Sure. But I’m retiring at 50 because I’m free.

  11. Middle-school Basketball is more entertaining than the WNBA and that’s me personally being generous 😂

  12. Out of the entire wnba there might be 5 great players in the entire league…im sorry but nobody but the player’s families are watching and attending these games and maybe a couple nba player trying to smash some female players in the off season and thats it….i have never in the history of the wnba have i ever heard a human say “i gotta get home, the wnba game coming on…😂😂😂…NOT EVER!!..its just not entertaining… Womens college basketball is as exciting as women’s basketball gets..may be the college atmosphere or the rivalries but the ncaa women’s tournament is 100 times better than any wnba game could ever be… nobody wants to watch 40 mins of missed lay ups and brick 3’s..

  13. Wnba women should all be paid 40k a year. That’s it. I don’t get to do something like play a game that doesn’t generate any money, but still get paid 200k a year. It’s crazy. Every employee should be paid 200k a year working at McDonald’s or Starbucks. It doesn’t matter if the business only makes 20k a month profit, every employee gets to make 20k and the businesses that do make money will pay the difference. That’s literally insane but it’s what we do for the wnba. Why tf do these women get to earn 5 times the national average salary for people with college degrees? All because they play a sport that men are able to generate billions of dollars playing? Restaurants generate billions of dollars too so all restaurant employees should be paid 150k just because some restaurants are successful

  14. Nobody cares if the wnba sits out 😂😂😂😂… The world 🌎 would never notice

  15. No one watches the wnba so how can the league generate enough to pay em???

  16. If you’re making 70k/year, maybe don’t sign an apartment lease for 8k a month.

  17. If the WNBA is so awesome as these player proclaim, why Oprah Winfrey or ladies that are Senators, Actresses, Beyonce, Martha Stewart, MacKenzie Scott (Amazon), Kamala Harris investing into the WNBA. As a matter fact all women sports.

  18. TNT canceled Shaq/Kenny/Chuck inside the NBA for this CRAP. Angel Reece needs to focus on her game. I don’t understand why she is already complaining about her salary. Her first year in the league when she knew how much she would get. She could just go play overseas. But the problem is her game is TRASH. She was making more money on her NIL deal at LSU. She has her priorities, not in order u see that a lot with people in her generation. I saw this at my work. I have kids come to me and say pay me more money, then I will start to perform better. That’s the mentality.
