KANSAS CITY — “🎵Fish don’t fry in the kitchen, beans don’t burn on the grill.🎵” Yessir! Our Kansas City Chiefs are movin’ on up like George & Weezy. Owner & CEO Clark Hunt released renderings of the new domed stadium set to open in Kansas City, Kansas in 2031. It’s a replica of Arrowhead Stadium, but state-of-the-art. It’ll be the best in the NFL by far. Better than Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Better than Jerry World in Dallas. “Today we are excited to show Chiefs Kingdom a first look at our new home,” Hunt said. “From the beginning, our goal has been to build something that improved the gameday experience for every single fan. This new stadium will do just that. It’s spectacular. It honors the rich legacy of this franchise while setting a bold course for the future of Chiefs Kingdom. While we’re still finalizing many of the details, there are a few things we know for sure: it will hold 70,000 fans, it will still be the best place in the world to tailgate, and the whole building will be built for noise.”

With a construction cost of $3 billion, the climate-controlled palace features a fully-enclosed roof with translucent ETFE panels that’ll allow us to descry military flyovers. And, it’ll have more than 20,000 parking spots. Like Mr. Hunt said, our tailgating 🌭 experience will be enhanced. The new stadium also creates opportunities to host the World Cup, the Final Four, WrestleMania and, of course, a Super Bowl. Chiefs President Mark Donovan announced the two Kansas City firms that’ll make all of this happen. “We’re proud to name MANICA as our lead design architect and HNTB as the architect of record for this transformational stadium,” he said.

“We are incredibly fortunate that Kansas City is home to world-class sports and entertainment design talent, and that has been on full display throughout this process. David (Manica) and the MANICA team stood out throughout a rigorous months-long process, honoring and embracing our history while presenting a bold and dynamic vision for the future. We look forward to working alongside both firms to refine these plans and deliver the premier sports and entertainment venue not only in the Midwest, but in the world.”

Social media reaction was Icy Hot.

One commenter wrote, “Who gives a sh*t about opportunities? As long as we still go to the Super Bowl and win I don’t give a f*ck about hosting one. It’s the stupidest sh*t ever. Tickets are gonna be very expensive. I live in Missouri, and watching Kansas taxpayers pay for the whole $3 billion stadium when the billionaire owner won’t have to pay a dime, that’s the real travesty.”

Another person added, “Y’all Missouri residents are bitter as f*ck. Arrowhead was great through the years, but this sh*t is f*ckin’ amazing. I’m glad they are building it in Kansas at the Legends where there is so much to do. Ain’t nothin’ at the Truman Sports Complex but a Taco Bell. Go Chiefs!”

Many season ticket holders are clamoring for an open-air stadium or, at the very least, one with a retractable roof.

But, if you recall, twelve frostbitten fans had their fingers and toes amputated after attending the wild-card game on January 13, 2024.

The temperature at kickoff was minus-4 degrees with a wind chill of 27 below zero — making it one of the coldest games in NFL history.

The new domed stadium will prevent sh*t like that from happening again.

  1. hate to say it but this knocks the old arrowhead out the box

  2. With that translucent roof, those top seats are gonna be hot as fuck in September even with the AC on.

  3. Great that the taxpayers insisted on this stadium instead of anything to fully support their city or their lives.
Continue to support the poor Facist,Elitist billionaires, corrupt politicians ! The taxpayers can feed their families game tickets and set up a cardboard house within its parking lot . Yay.

  4. Mahomes will be around 36 when the stadium opens. That’s still close to his prime.

  5. @Super Mario: The Cardinals Stadium in Glendale is Natural Grass. They have it on rollers. If they can do it in the Hot Desert 🌵 they can do it in KC.

  6. They need to dub it Arrowhead 2 and paint the outline of an Arrowhead on the ceiling, so whenever anyone visits and looks up, they will say, “Look at that. An Arrowhead.”

  7. The stadium is fire. Just hate that it doesn’t have a retractable roof.

  8. Tickets gonna be super high. We normal people will be watching on TV while rich people attend.

  9. I don’t like the idea of the Chiefs playing in a dome. Feels wrong. Shoudve at least gave it a retractable roof.

Football is meant to be played outdoors in the elements.

That said, it’s an incredible stadium other than it being in Kansas.

  10. Retractable roofs are kind of stupid. How often are they opened? Like, almost never.

  11. The American people are truly stupid. We let billionaires have us foot the bill to build them their new business facility so they can charge us more to consume their product.

  12. It’s basically a greenhouse roof, so it better be natural grass….
How about a rainwater capture system to save on the water bill?

  13. I hope the glass panels can suppport heavy snow. I recall Kemper Arena having a roof collapse from snow.

  14. I’m glad the Kansas tax payers are picking up the tab, shouldn’t ask the hard working public to pay for a billionaire to have a stadium built

  15. Clark can go shove it; we’re leaving arrowhead in the dust because HE wants to make even more money. Someone tried to tell me that this wouldn’t have been such a big outrage before Patrick Mahomes because Arrowhead was a shrine of agony but that’s patently untrue. Sure there was agony, but we also set the sound record in 2014; 4 years before Mahomes became the starter!! Arrowhead is the best experience of a football game out there, maybe besides Lambeau, and soon it’ll be dust in the wind for a giant, shiny, Pringle. It’s tragic!

  16. This is sad that this historic stadium, the loudest stadium in the planet is going to leave. It’s also annoying when you realize the Bills are still keeping their weather advantage in their new stadium. The pro to this is that the crowd can be louder.

  17. And how much of that “$3 billion” will taxpayers be on the book for? These teams fork out hundred million dollar contracts for a single player, but suddenly come begging taxpayers when they want another stadium.

  18. The problem w all of this is… Clark Hunt does not give 1 iota what Chiefs Kingdom wants. He said 2-2½ yrs ago that he had Arrowhead thoroughly inspected. It would last another 50 yrs. After a survey of Chiefs Kingdom, CH said we OVERWHELMINGLY did NOT want a roof. Looks like he only cares what we want after he gets what he wants. Who gives a F if they can do other things @ our football stadium!? That’s what the Chiefs do. That’s it. How does any of this help the Chiefs win football games?!? Short answer, Long answer, Only answer… it doesn’t. Arrowhead is already one of if not THE best atmosphere/place 2 play NFL Football. Everyone else strive 2 get what CH is giving up. Totally asinine.

  19. Screw the Chiefs. Sellouts went to Kansas for money and backroom deals.. They didn’t care about the fans so I no longer care about them. I hope the Star Bonds fall flat and the Chiefs get totally screwed.

  20. In 5 years? Bullshit! They could build that stadium within 2 years if they start now, work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  21. Is it just me….or does the roof look like a Pringle chip?
Clark Hunt said specifically that he wants a clear roof so the flyovers can still happen.
Also you have to consider, this is going to be right by The Village West Entertainment District. Tons of shopping and restaurants right across the street. As well as the Kansas Speedway, KC Monarchs baseball field, and Sporting KC’s soccer stadium. The Chiefs don’t really have to do much in the way of making their own entertainment district with this stadium, it’s all already there. So make all the tailgating/parking area they want…lol. Hell there’s even a pretty nice casino there as well, Hollywood Casino. One thing you might see are a few more hotels going up around the area.

  22. State of Kansas bent over, spread them cheeks and said to the Hunts — PARK IT RIGHT HERE !

  23. The twelve people who lost fingers and toes are gonna love that roof come December and January.

  24. Why build a new stadium that aesthetically resembles the current stadium? Why not just put a roof over Arrowhead? Seems like reasonable questions. But, nobody is thinking about the subsurface infrastructure of Arrowhead. It’s an amazing iconic building but, the foundation, drainage, incoming plumbing main lines etc., that’s all crumbling. You could spend a billion on Arrowhead and when you’re done, you still have an old building that still looks like an old building. And, it will need another billion in repairs in a few short years. As expensive as a new structure is, it’s more economically viable to build new than repair the old. As to where it’s being built?, well KCMO had their chance. I don’t like the tax payers getting stuck with the bill, but show me a stadium where that hasn’t been the case.

  25. All these whining comments are ridiculous!

If Missouri didn’t want to do a deal to keep the team and that’s their choice. Kansas wanted to and did.

The Chiefs Organization choose the deal they wanted. That area will pay dividends in the long run, just like Sporting KC and The Kansas Speedway. The Star bonds is the smart way to go.

If any of you think Chiefs Kingdom was just Missouri, your crazy. I along with many of my Chiefs Kingdom friends had Season Tickets for years. I-70 west of Arrowhead was always jam-packed on gameday.

The weather means nothing, if our players are good we win. I could careless about an advantage because of weather.

Remember when Chiefs won all those away games. Weather is not an issue.

The Chiefs paying homage to Arrowhead is awesome. We all love Arrowhead and modernizing the stadium with the look of the old Arrowhead is an Awesome Idea.

The tailgating experience will never go away.

If you don’t like it, don’t go!!!

I guarantee that the sea of red will be there with or without you. 😏
