KANSAS CITY — Our world-beating Kansas City Chiefs received their championship rings Thursday night during a private ceremony at Union Station to commemorate their second title in four years. KC defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII to capture the franchise’s 3rd Lombardi Trophy. Jostens created the rings. They’re made up of 609 round diamonds, 16 baguette diamonds, four marquise diamonds and 35 custom-cut genuine rubies with an approximate weight of 16.10 total carats. Dayuuummm! And that’s not it. The ring top, fashioned as a bird’s-eye view of GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, can be separated and converted into a pendant. Isn’t that cool? Other ring features include the team logo, a Lombardi threesome, head coach Andy Reid’s motto, “EDGE,” and “CHIEFS KINGDOM” written in gold to acknowledge fans.
“That’s what you work for… to win the Super Bowl and get those rings,” said star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. “They last a lifetime.” As you’d expect, Mahomes and Travis Kelce helped design the jewelry. “We had a good conversation with Patrick and Travis,” said team president Mark Donovan. “We just wanted them to see it, what our initial designs were… They gave us great input and, you know, they’re both stylish guys. So, we took it to heart and we actually made some changes based on their input.”
Vegas oddsmakers have already made KC the favorite to win next year’s Super Bowl.
