KANSAS CITY — Babygirl and I went to Kansas City’s Funny Bone on Saturday to watch “Mad TV” legend Aries Spears. As expected, he was funny as hell. What we didn’t anticipate, however, was yours truly gettin’ roasted for 20 minutes. Yessir. Aries made me an integral part of his standup – much to the merriment of the capacity crowd. What’s crazy is we made ourselves sedentary on the 3rd row, thinking we were safe. That’s because when we got clowned by Bill Bellamy and Tony Rock in recent weeks, we sat up front. But they only blasted us for 5 minutes. Aries whooped my ass for damn near half an hour. That’s gotta be some kind of Improv record. Thankfully, an intrepid white woman was plucky enough to succor me. She stood up to Aries on my behalf, and he clowned her for that – saying if we were still mired in the days of slavery, she would’ve purchased my black ass to procure some Mandingo phallus.
The audience went bonkers!
Telling you dawg… the roasting 🦃 was so acute, patrons approached me after the show and called me “famous,” assuming I was part of the act. I definitely wasn’t. Aries, like most comics, are great improvisors. Babygirl said the show was recorded. I certainly hope I don’t end up on “Comedy Central.” Aries gave me the Rodney King treatment. It was an ass-whoopin’ of epic proportions.
That being said, it was all in good fun.
We took pictures afterward and I bought babygirl one of his t-shirts.
If you’ve never seen Aries live, do that sh*t.
He’s hilarious.

This guy picks on the audience to much and really shows his true colors. He very much seems to be racist, but uses his comedy tactics as an excuse to display his real personality how he views people. His jokes mostly seem to cover ethnic topics that pinpoint the highlight of his jokes the majority. Gets old after awhile and listening to this idiot , I sit and wonder after listening to him. Does this guy ever think what a racist dumbass he sound like up there on stage . R. I. P. Charlie kirk.

Aries is funny but sometimes take things too far. People come to be entertained not humiliated. However I know a small segment will always find his comedy funny, but there is reason why the major players in the industry don’t deal with him.
Going to see this guy next month…. told my husband we can’t sit too close to the front!

But when they roast the crowd that just mean they don’t have a set for the show.. and he is there just for a paycheck… Joe Rogan mentioned that in one of his podcasts, that comedians are tight on funds when they don’t have a set lined up… it’s sad cause Aries can write a hilarious set for Netflix and get paid 100’s of thousands instead of doing a small set in a small spot for $2500 or less

People being able to take a joke aimed at them at a comedy show is one thing, attacking your audience is another, even if they have their issues. Being a standup doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be professional and respectful. Yeah, if you’re gonna sit in front, or heckle, come with thick skin, but the performer should also have the sense to know that you’re a customer, comedy show or not. Some shit I’m seeing here is just f’ed up, and people are just laughing it up. I don’t have a stick up my ass, I just know that people go to a comedy show; or any show, to have a good time, so give them a good time; even if it comes with a personal jab or two, but don’t give them a bad time, don’t unnecessarily make them regret their entertainment choice for the evening. If offence is being taken, take a step back, don’t pile it on, in the name of “fun”. Some people may have their own issues, but if your audience member walks out for something you could have kept from getting to that point, you haven’t done well. You don’t know how to control yourself and your show.
