HORN ISLAND — “🎵Ebony and Ivory, live together in perfect harmony.🎵” Cyrus Carmack-Belton, 14, was shot dead over a $1 bottle of water and his killer got acquitted. Karmelo Anthony, 19, was sentenced to 35 years in prison. Tonea Nicole Miller, 27, was found hanging with a noose around the neck. Ditto for Justice Kai James, 21. Now we’ve learned Nolan Wells, 18, was Ctrl-Alt-Deleted on Independence Day🧨. Man, it’s been a brutal summer for young black folks in the south. Nolan — a wideout 🏈 for Southwest Mississippi Community College — was found dead after hanging out with three white, Donald Trump-supporting friends on a remote Mississippi island 🏝 during the holiday weekend. The fellas made the trip on July 4, 2026. After gettin’ drunk and high🚬, the white guys returned home. But Nolan never made it back. A national park service ranger found his body the ensuing Monday on Horn Island where “there is no staff, drinking water, shelter, facilities, or communication.”

Local chancery judge Ashlee Cole, the mother of one of Nolan’s friends, said her son Warren was interrogated by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. “He saw Nolan last at around 3 p.m. on July 4th,” Ashlee posted on Facebook. “They left around 4:30 p.m. when the boat was taking on water and they had an issue with the bilge pump. Nolan made a decision to stay on the island and return inland later with another group of friends.”
Nolan’s relatives said, “Bullsh*t!”
They think he was lynched.
Plus… Nolan’s friends had his phone, but messages were deleted.
The family has hired civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump to handle the case.
“Nolan Wells was a beloved son, teammate and friend who went out to celebrate the Fourth of July and never came home,” he said in a statement.
His family deserves answers. They deserve the truth. We will not rest until every fact about what happened to Nolan on Horn Island is brought into the light, and we call on investigators to pursue this case with the urgency and transparency this family deserves.”
Social media reaction was insane.
One commenter wrote, “One black dude and three white boys on a remote island? This is payback for Austin Metcalf.”
Another chimed in with, ” Y’all keep on trying to be a part of a white world 🌎 that really doesn’t want you in it! When will we wake up? Celebrating a day that doesn’t celebrate us. We were in bondage on July 4, 1776!!! Know your history.😢”
A third person added, “Good luck getting answers from his so-called friends. One of their mothers is a judge.”
Christine Wonsley, Nolan’s mom, still can’t believe he’s gone.
“My heart is broken for our sweet son who was always willing to cheer and uplift others,” she wrote on Facebook.
“Nolan was a special soul, God took his time creating our son.”
Jayvon Williams and Trace Carter, two of Nolan’s black friends, tried to warn him; mainly because Nolan had a snow bunny 🐇 girlfriend, and some white guys hate that — especially in the south.

Come on now this is where I would as a parent ask for go funding to support the hiring of an independent investigator for the cause of death of my son . I am white and I do not trust the state to investigate adequately, so in my mind it is not a race thing it is just want facts so that I did all that I could for my son’s memory and to ensure the facts are taken to court.
Unfortunately that may mean the outcome might hurt more (if it proves the son is responsible for his own circunstance) but that is the risk I would take if I could afford it.
Hollywood wasn’t lying when they portrayed America’s ideal friendship in the hit TV show, Friends. Intentionally, Hollywood made sure there were no POC in that Friends group. That’s their comfortable ideal world. They were sending out a clear message about who’s on the outside and not equal to them. Hollywood, the corporate world, and those who enforce the laws of this land don’t shy away from telling us that a POC will never be their equal.
WHY did all those white boys lawyer up? WHY were messages on Nolan’s phone deleted? It’s 2026 and deleted messages can be recovered. Text messages were deleted and we know dead men don’t delete messages.

If a white kid shows up dead while being with 3 black guys……..this would be handled completely differently. Mississippi police are already rushing to call it an accident before an autopsy has been done.

The fact that these friends aren’t out right now demanding to know what happened and leading the charge shows that there’s more to this case. If a friend of mine that was with me and we left them with another group of people and then they died, I’d be going crazy trying to find those people who he was last with.

There is NO WAY especially in the climate we are in now. If the table was turned 3 black boys and 1 white guy. Those 3 black boys would had the police 👮♀️ at their house arrest for questioning lawyers or no lawyers!
