ESCAMBIA — The adventures of Pookie & Ray Ray continue. Charles Carson-Dowdy, 30, was thrown in the slammer after he murdered his girlfriend of 4 months, 30-year-old Starmicheal Latrice Tucker, because she dumped him. The femicide transpired on January 2, 2025 at The Crossings at Nine Mile Road Apartment Homes in Escambia, Florida. According to reports, Starmichael — a senior airwoman in the 919th Special Operations Medical Squadron in the United States Air Force — told Charles she was sick and tired of his bullsh*t and she was ending their relationship. A bout of contretemps ensued. As the argument intensified, Charles pulled out a gun and opened fire — striking Starmichael multiple times. Then he hopped in her Jeep Cherokee and ran her over… twice. “The victim was shot at least seven times by her boyfriend and then run over at least twice,” Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons told reporters. Starmichael was transported to the hospital where she ultimately died.
Charles drove across the state line into Spanish Fort, Alabama. But he was apprehended after the jeep suffered a flat tire. “We actually received a call from Daphne Police Department saying that they received information from Escambia County Sheriff’s Department in Florida that there could be a homicide suspect in our area,” said Spanish Fort Police Chief John Barber.
“Within 10 minutes or so, they found the vehicle actually with a flat tire right by Ralph And Kacoo’s on the Causeway. He’d already called roadside assistance to come out there and help him change the tire.”
Law enforcement officials used the jeep’s GPS system to track the vehicle.
Charles was arrested and charged with murder.
“You can’t just escape one jurisdiction and think you’re going to get away,” Sheriff Simmons said.
“I think the speed at which we developed the information was important and obviously the partnerships and relationships that we’ve built. Communication and cooperation with other agencies was very important.”
In addition to serving her country, Starmichael graduated from Florida A&M University with a nursing degree.
She leaves behind a young son.
“My sister was the light that shined through everybody’s darkness,” said Starmichael’s younger sister, Raya Tucker.
“She was someone who it didn’t matter the time, the place, she always made herself available for everybody. She was sweet. She was giving. She was an amazing mother. She was an amazing sister, she was an amazing aunt, niece. She was everything.”
Raya said Charles appeared to be a nice guy even though he’s a jealous, unemployed, freeloading sumbitch.
“I didn’t see any red flags,” Raya said.
“He seemed sweet. He seemed innocent… They looked happy. So to think and sit back and just read the details about how he did my sister, it hurts. We are broken. We are hurting here.”
