GWYNN OAK — “If I can’t have you, no one can!” Keith Maurice James Jr., 16, was thrown in the slammer after he Ctrl-Alt-Deleted his ex-girlfriend, 15-year-old Giovanna Myrie, and her little brother, 9-year-old Steve Allen, because she dumped his ass. The sanguinary ordeal transpired on July 7, 2026 in Gwynn Oak, Maryland — a suburb of Baltimore County. After 60 days of dating, Giovanna descried a myriad of red flags🚩. So she called Keith and told him she didn’t think they were a good fit. A bout of contretemps ensued. As the argument intensified, Keith yelled something to the effect of, “Bitch! If I can’t have you, no one can!” Next thing you know, Keith took a bus 🚌 to Giovanna’s crib, forced himself inside, pulled out a gun and opened fire — striking Giovanna and Steve multiple times. Their mother came home, saw the dead bodies and called police.
After detectives conducted a thorough investigation, Keith was arrested on July 22, 2026 and charged with two counts of murder. He’ll spend the rest of his youth behind bars. “It took longer than I wanted it to,” Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough told reporters. “However, we had to make sure that we put together a very airtight case considering the age of the suspect.”
Investigators interviewed witnesses, probed cell phone usage and reviewed surveillance footage to identify Keith, who was at Giovanna’s home on the 4th of July.
It was the first time they met in person.
During the visit, Giovanna video-called her best friend, who saw Keith laying next to her in bed with a gun.
They looked like they just finished f*cking.
Giovanna also sent her BFF a text message that said Keith threatened to kill her if she “messed around with any other guys.”
Chief McCullough made it crystal clear parents need take their heads out of their asses, and be more aware of who their kids are spending time with.
“We need to make sure we know who our kids are associating with,” he said.
The final issue is dating violence, teen violence between people who have relationships. We need to be mindful of those things. When you consider how horrific this crime was carried out, it was terrible. When you reflect on the fact that a child who had just turned 16 carried out this crime and did it in the manner he did, it’s troubling.”
Social media reaction was wild.
One commenter wrote, “They’re too young to be dating. Laying in bed together? Having sex? Where were the parents?”
Another chimed in with, “I can’t imagine burying two kids. Sad, sad story.😢”
A third person added, “All of that after only 60 DAYSSSSSS?!!!!!!!😳”

This was how my daughter did me while I was out at work thank God no one was unalived and when I found out what was happening I got on both of my kids because my son didn’t want to tell on his sister. I think this is what took place here but it went to far

This story of a 16-year-old ending the lives of a 15-year-old girl and her 9-year-old brother over a high school relationship is absolutely heartbreaking.
Some young people do not handle breakups well, especially when they believe they have lost their “first love.” I wish I could have spoken at this school before this horrific tragedy occurred. So many young people are never taught how to recognize the red flags of a toxic relationship, process rejection in healthy ways, or make better decisions when emotions are overwhelming.
Sadly, many children and teenagers struggle with undiagnosed mental health challenges because some parents are in denial or dismiss the warning signs by saying, “There’s nothing wrong with my child. It’s just a phase. They’ll grow out of it.” Sometimes what appears to be “just a phase” is actually a cry for help. Early intervention and behavioral health support can save lives.
We also need to teach our children that loss is a part of life. Grief doesn’t only happen after a funeral. We experience loss through friendships, relationships, disappointments, dreams that don’t work out, and many other life changes. The key is learning healthy ways to cope, grow, and move forward. Rejection is not the end of your story. Sometimes what feels like a devastating ending is simply preparation for something or someone better in your future.
I understand loss personally. I lost my mother at age 7, my father at age 9, and my grandmother shortly after high school. I’ve also experienced the loss of relationships and a marriage that I once believed would last forever. Those experiences taught me that although loss is painful, it does not have to define your future.
My prayers are with every family whose lives have been forever changed by this tragedy.

Why are kids having boyfriends at this age .I didn’t start dating until I was 20.Too focus on my education. Very sad news .We need to talk to our kids more and make them aware of the danger of dating .Rejection is a prime motive for a person to take your life because when you are ready to end the relationship ,most of the time they aren’t .
