LOS ANGELES — “🎵Chaka Khan, let me rock you. Let me rock you, Chaka Khan. Let me rock you, ’cause I feel for you.🎵” R&B legend Chaka Khan, 73, ain’t a fan of contemporary female artists. As a matter of fact, she thinks they’re downright disgusting. During a recent chinwag on Jessie Ware’s “Table Manners” podcast, the 10-time Grammy Award winner piggybacked remarks made by Patti LaBelle and Stephanie Mills that modern women are too damn freaky on stage. Raunchy entertainers like Megan Thee Stallion, Ice Spice, Cardi B and GloRilla are known for twerking in lieu of spittin’ quality vocals. “These women are doing any and every damn thing on stage and trying to sing, too,” Chaka vented. “The ones who are doing the most physicalities, with their butts and stuff, and their body parts, are the ones that usually are compensating for what they don’t have.” Ouch! Social media reaction was in agreement. One commenter wrote, “They don’t realize that you can be sexy AND classy.”

Chaka also ruffled some feathers when she described Ike Turner as a “lovely human being” despite the fact he whooped Tina Turner’s ass every time the sun came up. “I know people have different experiences with people,” Chaka said. “But he was a lovely human being to me.” Chaka just launched the onstage production of “I’m Every Woman: The Chaka Khan Musical.”

As a GenX woman growing up I agree with Chaka. Being a whore was a bad thing . Society has changed into a very toxic, self demo, destructive and it’s been normalized by those who control the media , music, entertainment industry, have pushed this over sexualization of women in black and brown communities. Those people who write the narrative of what’s acceptable by propaganda are doing this hurt our youth , it’s brainwashing to make them believe that it’s normal not to have morals or values , boundaries but the fact is many of us have that inner voice that tells you it’s wrong. Talent doesn’t require nudity doesn’t require to prostitution, glorifying porn. Nobody wants to go to any event and see anyone’s butt checks out , or breast or private parts . It’s gross 🤮. We need to change the narrative !
Traditionally black American families were very God-fearing, conservative and family oriented. A lot of the modern trends are just plain demonic. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and booty and titty flashing doesn’t give a woman sex appeal. A man who finds you sexy will find you sexy in a potato sack. What’s being done now is sexually enticing men, so they’re getting him based on the sex and hoping he falls in love with them as a person. Those women don’t age well because if that’s how they got him, they feel that’s how they have to keep him and sooner or later the age kicks in.

For music in the 1970s / 80s /90s African americans had various classy acts. Eg Stevie wonder / marvin Gaye / James Brown / Sly & the family stone / Earth wind & fire / Isley brothers / Cameo / Slave / Rufus / and all those wonderful acts on the fab soul train show. Then from the 2000 along came the scary ugly awful hip hop rap culture. African american culture and music for some went down the toilet into the sewage.
I love her music, but this is hypocritical. She was known for her wild antics when performing live. She was high. Her clothing and style challenged the stiff respectable polished look of the singers before her. Why speak negatively about the new generation of performers?
