Movie critics at ‘Double Toasted’ disseminated a scorching 🔥 review of Antoine Fuqua’s “Michael.”

  1. Double Toasted is trippin. This is a damn good movie.

  2. Great acting all around with Oscar worthy performances. Loved the film despite the criticism.

  3. I really liked this film. I was bit uneasy when he was a kid and getting beaten up but once they passed this period it was a smooth ride …. Colman Domingo was amazing.

  4. I love Antoine Fuqua I just don’t think he was the man for something like this. I actually think Ryan coogler probably would have done a better job.

  5. Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy? Top tier. January? Simply breathtaking. Coleman Domingo? Terrifying. Nia? Amazing. His brothers? Glorified background talent.

  6. Dam. Michael ruined his legacy with all them sleepovers with other people’s kids.

  7. Here’s what I took from the film: If your parents were like Joe Jackson then they were pieces of shit too.

  8. I LOVED this movie! I was born in the early 60s so this was part of the background of my childhood.
My 3 awards go to Coleman as Joe Jackson, Jaafar as older Michael, and Juliano as young Michael. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
My 2 critiques are: 1-Jaafar’s use of veneers was way too inconsistent for the amount of close ups he had when not singing.
2-Nia’s attempt at subtle sparks of defiance towards Joe in her eyes, expressions, and demeanor were weak at best. But she did portray her relationship with Michael very, very well.
Overall I give the movie 9.
Going to see it again as soon as I have time!

  9. Excellent Excellent movie. Jaafar did a STELLAR JOB. The movie was incredibly tasteful….About time for something tasteful as it pertains to Mr. Michael Jackson. Put and keep some respect on his name.

  10. I saw it last night and loved it. Jaafar did an amazing job. The whole cast was great. I’m going to see it again.

  11. Just left the theater, and let me say this… I loved it! I enjoyed how the movie made me feel like I was actually at a Michael Jackson concert. While I would have loved to hear a couple of songs from the Jackson’s Triumph and Victory tours, I understand that this film was focused on Michael and I’m good with that. Jaafar nailed it!

  12. I won’t be watching it. My personal boycott. Black people can’t keep shit!!!! This used to be a BLACK family from one of the BLACKEST cities in the USA – Gary, IN. They became rich and famous off of Black culture, and a Black owned business – Motown in another one of the countries BLACKEST cities – Detroit, MI. The Jackson’s are now a bunch of sellouts who abandoned their BLACKNESS and are now a whited-out ambiguous looking family leaving all their generational wealth to mostly non-black people and Michael, RIP, was the biggest betrayer. He adopted three white or non-black children and made them millionaires or potentially billionares in the long run. Even gave all three of them his name Prince Michael Jackson. Already the oldest son is supposedly engaged to white woman. Like I said Black people can’t keep shit!!! Raised around ALL those Black Jackson family members and he’s engaged to a white woman. Proof of my point – they prefer their own. Lastly, Google the cast. They even casted non-black people to portray a lot of them including Diana Ross and young Michael. DAMN!!!! They couldn’t find talented Black actors and actresses to portray KNOWN BLACK PEOPLE?!?!? REALLY?!?!? In addition to begging the government for reparations, Black people need to START HOLDING SUCCESSFUL BLACK PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE. Our Ancestor’s blood, sweat, tears, and lives made it possible for today’s Black people to have Rights & OPPORTUNITIES they were once denied no matter how talented, creative, intelligent they were. I TRULY DOUBT THEY INTENDED FOR IT TO GO RIGHT BACK TO people who hated and discriminated against them and oppressed them and still do the same to us unless they can use, abuse, take or make money off you. I hate no one. I’m just unapologetically BLACK and I love, am proud of and prefer my own. If you don’t think OTHERS are PRO their own you are delusional. They rarely if ever mate with or marry outside and LEAVE ALL THEIR WEALTH TO BLACK PEOPLE!!!!!!!!! Name me five. You probably can’t name one. Yet there are far too many Blacks who left theirs to non-black people. Far too many. SAD AF!!! You all enjoy this whitewashed, watered down, faded ambiguous people movie based on the life of BLACKS who can’t keep shit!!!

  13. I thought this movie was fire 🔥
    I didn’t get bored once
Bought me back to the 80’s
    Pure vibes

  14. They DEFINITELY made the right choice for the Michael Jackson character 🔥💯

  15. Michael is still the world’s # 1 performer, no one comes close 💯💯💯

  16. I absolutely LOVED this movie, they really did a fantastic job at capturing the makings of and the genius of Michael Joseph Jackson!

  17. I’m sticking with Jacksons the American Dream ABC miniseries with Angela Bassett as the momma and Freddie Boom Boom Washington as Joe Jackson. That was a really fun watch.

  18. The likability of this film largely depends on individual expectations. Fans of Michael Jackson who want to just relive the high points of his career without exploring the complexities of his life may find this movie engaging. However, for those of us with discerning artistic tastes and an appreciation for sophisticated filmmaking, this movie may prove disappointing. The film’s shallow portrayal and reliance on recreating his iconic music videos, rather than providing a thoughtful dramatization, was striking. In contrast, the James Brown biopic from several years ago had a lasting impact on me, whereas this film lacks substance and fails to deliver a meaningful cinematic experience. This is merely my perspective.

  19. I really enjoyed it. I know the critics say “It’s shallow! Not enough dirt! What about the sexual abuse allegations! What about his doctor who killed him!!” Well, that’s another movie. This is about his meteoric rise to fame as one of the greatest pop artists of all time, and yes, it is filled with tears, failures, challenges, and abuse- But it ends at the pinnacle of his fame. It’s a truly fun ride to relive- sometimes it just feels right to focus on the victories! B+

  20. I know this sounds crazy but I would go see jaafar do a tour as Michael that would be fire.

  21. The movie made it seem like the dad didn’t really love Michael. Like he just wanted to use him for his own benefit. He never cared about Michael’s dreams according to the movie. Michael outgrew the Jackson 5. He had too much creativity inside that needed to come out.
