DETROIT — Uh-oh! If you’re working for an automobile manufacturer, you’d be sagacious to dust off the resume. That’s because General Motors (Factory Zero) in Detroit, Michigan recently laid off 1,000 assembly line employees and replaced ’em with… 50 FANUC America Corporation collaborative robots (cobots). Management claimed they had no choice but to effectuate budget cuts because you cheap bastards won’t purchase their electric vehicles – causing profits to plummet. “We’ve been installing cobots across our manufacturing footprint as part of a broader push to bring more advanced technology into our operations,” GM spokesperson Kevin Kelly said in a statement. “At Factory ZERO, we are implementing them alongside our team, helping improve safety and ergonomics, while keeping our operations flexible and competitive.”

Union presidents James Cotton and Shawn Fain of UAW Local 22 are pissed. James told reporters, “Our manpower is being taken away from us.” Shawn issued a warning, saying, “We are in a fight for humanity.” Not sure why they’re so upset. Even Stevie Wonder could see this coming. A few weeks ago, a viral video showed a Figure 03 robot outworking a male warehouse worker.

To compound matters, the android never took breaks.

It never went to lunch🥪.

It’ll never call in sick.

It doesn’t require a salary.

And it don’t need vacation leave or healthcare benefits.

Hate to say it, but — when juxtaposed against humans — robots are more cost-effective.

Telling you dawg, better save some cash.
