KANSAS CITY — Took a minute. But it’s finally happening. Tasha Haefs — the Kansas City mother who decapitated her mulatto son and the family dog two years ago — has been deemed fit to stand trial. If you recall, Tasha tried to plead insanity. But, on Friday, Judge Jerri Zhang granted a motion to proceed with prosecution. Psycho mom will now receive her comeuppance. On February 15, 2022, Tasha called 911 and told the operator “the devil was trying to attack her.” Police officers rushed to the home and heard Tasha singing as they knocked on the door. When she refused to answer, they forced themselves in and saw 6-year-old Karvel Stevens missing his head. There was blood everywhere. Then, officers went down to the basement and descried a headless canine. Tasha told investigators she killed Karvel “in the bathtub” before “decapitating” him.
When asked why she did it, Tasha said because he’s a “little devil.”
Tasha was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. She was also ordered to undergo a mental evaluation. After reviewing the results, Judge Sarah Castle said Tasha “lacks the mental fitness to proceed” to trial. Now, two years later, Judge Zhang ruled her competent. Social media reaction was wild. One commenter wrote, “Why when people ‘go crazy’ religion is ALWAYS involved?” Another chimed in with, “Deadbeat dad in jail…..useless. She’s a methhead… batshit crazy… no other analysis needed.”
A third person added, “What was she singing?”

I live and work in this area of KCMO and this is the first time I have heard anything about this. I’m one of the few Missourians that actually enjoys living here but I can say the crime is awful. Drugs are rampant everywhere here and the police force just isn’t trained properly at all. Y’all should look into the Tanner Ward case from Trenton Missouri. We also have a lot of people pass from hurting theirselves. At least one person a year passes in my hometown’s community.

That poor lil boy, parents are supposed to love and protect you. Mental illness is a terrible disease and a horrible burden that many fight with. I’m bi-polar and have severe anxiety, I’m a recovering addict also. I had to get help and I hope if someone out there is suffering they reach out a hand for someone to take.
I’ve delt with psychosis in the past. Its extremely frightening. Having said that, I can’t imagine the guilt weighing on Tasha once she realized what she had done. My heartfelt condolences to everyone affected.

This is what happens when you shut down insane asylums nationwide. We live in a society where we don’t give people mental health treatment until it’s too late. And they have to then want that help as well. Being crazy isn’t a crime until it is. And that’s the problem with this system. It’s only reactionary.
It should require a license and a mental evaluation in order to have children. The amount of kids that are born into this world, to people that should have no business raising them is why there are cases like this.
Fuckkkk I’m done with this world. Every single minute a baby dies an unnecessary death. Good god I don’t wanna hear these stories anymore!
