CHICAGO — “I am Somebody!” Reverend Jesse L. Jackson has migrated to that great big pulpit in the sky. The MLK protégé kicked the bucket Tuesday morning. He was 84. Jesse’s daughter, Santita Jackson, confirmed the civil rights activist was encircled by relatives when he passed away at his home in Chicago, Illinois. “Our father was a servant leader — not only to our family, but to the oppressed, the voiceless, and the overlooked around the world,” the Jackson family said in a statement that was disseminated online. “We shared him with the world, and in return, the world became part of our extended family.” Jesse, a two-time presidential candidate, led the Civil Rights Movement after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968. He was supposed to have a conclave with Dr. King at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee shortly before the murder.

The baton was handed to Jesse at that moment and he ran with it. Jesse is perhaps best known for his “I am Somebody” poem. Man, he had black folks feeling invincible. “I may be poor, but I am Somebody,” Jesse intoned. “I may be young; but I am Somebody; I may be on welfare, but I am Somebody.” Jesse fought against systemic racism through his Rainbow PUSH Coalition.
He also advocated for LGBT rights 🌈 even though God calls homosexuality an abomination.
President Donald Trump said Jesse “was a piece of work, but he was a good man.”

A gay guy was Jesse’s right hand man, they made a movie about it recently.
I think Jesse Jackson should be remembered as a man. He was not all good, nor all bad. Not to be glorified but understood as a complex image bearer. And I pray he is with the Father right now.
GOOD FUCKING RIDDENS!
RIP Jesse Jackson. He wasn’t perfect, but, I’m sure that a lot of what he stood for was good and positive.
The fact that he was pro homosexuality and political were definitely among his worst shortcomings!
Jesse Jackson was also a 33° Freemason. Freemasons worship the Sun God there’s no way he could have been a Christian.
Jesse helped destroy black families
He set MLK up… CIA Boule AGENT… Ninjas die everyday…
One of the greatest scammers of all time
Rev. Jackson should’ve won the Nobel prize, he negotiated the release of hundreds of hostages 7 times.
He did some good,.. But sold blacks out later.
This man was a civil rights ICON, a giant who fought for EVERYBODY. He fought valiantly for the rights of AFRICAN AMERICANS, and Americans citizens as a whole. Many people are ignorant to, or misinformed about the many things that he did for all people of this country. He cared for his country and it’s citizens, even at a time where this country openly showed that it didn’t really care for him AND Black people, in general. I truly appreciate his staunch Pro-Blackness mentality full stop, constantly pushing for Black people to embrace their heritage, their cultures, and identity🤴🏾👸🏿👸🏽🤴🏿🤴🏽👸🏾. He was well educated and vocal about our true history, heritage, and cultures, and was well respected as a major force within the African diaspora around the world, and pushed for collective unity within the diaspora🌎🫱🏿🫲🏾🌍. Even empowering Black people who’s ancestors have been here for generations from Africa, to this colonial settlement through enslavement, to put down the colonial titles given by Europeans, and instead proudly embrace being African American🔥💪🏾💯. He fought for the poor and less fortunate too. Alot of U.S. politics to this day are from HIS playbook. From the Obama’s, the Mamdani’s, etc. I can go on and on about his influence on policies. He was well respected around the world. World leaders treated him like a head of state. He even GAINED THE RELEASE OF SEVERAL HOSTAGES. His legacy is monumental. Now an ancestor, he is gone but not forgotten. Rest in peace great brother🇺🇲 🙏🏾🫶🏾✊🏾
