Rapper Lil Poppa commits suicide after droppin’ track

ATLANTA — “🎵It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.🎵” Family and friends are in mourning after 25-year-old rapper Lil Poppa (né Janarious Mykel Wheeler) said “f*ck it” and killed himself. His cadaver was found around 11:30 a.m. on February 18, 2026 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said Poppa shot himself in the head. A close source said he became depressed after his 304 dumped him. That said… when it came to music, Poppa didn’t disappoint. He was dedicated to his craft and he was widely regarded as being one of the hardest working artists in the industry. Poppa released the new track “Out of Town Bae” prior to kicking the bucket. “I ain’t never seen nobody outwork Poppa,” music producer Scotty OTH told reporters. “Poppa was the last man standing in the studio.” Photographer Terrence Tyson, who did a documentary on Poppa, called his quietus a big loss. “When he made it, it felt like everyone made it,” Tyson said. “He was a star.”
Social media reaction was cold-blooded. One commenter wrote, “This generation ruined rap. All they talk about is drugs and depression which leads to them harming themselves.” Another chimed in with, “Never heard of him ’til now.” A third person added, “I have no sympathy for these weak-minded, poorly-raised, studio gangsters who mislead kids with their fake lifestyles.”
After signing with Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group, Poppa released a plethora of songs including “Love & War,” “Mind Over Matter” and “Happy Tears.”
Poppa — who was based in Jacksonville, Florida — released a video that insinuates he knew his days were numbered.
“I got one more album,” he said.
“I got one more and it’s over. I’m going to find my peace.”
Scuttlebutt has it Poppa remunerated a hitman to murder rapper Julio Foolio.
They had been beefin’ for years.
Also, four people were shot dead at Poppa’s memorial service and 20 were injured.
