MILWAUKEE — “🎵Blame it on the Goose. Gotcha feelin’ loose. Blame it on the ‘Tron. Got you in the zone. Blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol.🎵” This week’s “I F*cked Up A Good Job Award🏆” goes to CBS sports analyst Tony Romo who may have gotten fired on his day off after he got busted for operating a vehicle while under the influence (OWI). The mortifying ordeal transpired on July 23, 2026 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was also captured on video. Police body cam footage shows an inebriated Romo failing a series of field sobriety tests before being thrown into the back of a squad car. “Did I pass this test?” Romo asked the arresting officer as he was being handcuffed. Police said they had no choice but to give Romo three citations after he swerved in and out of traffic. The 46-year-old sportscaster claimed he had just finished playing golf and he was on his way “to visit grandma and grandpa.” Romo had “red glassy eyes” in conjunction with an “odor of an intoxicating alcoholic beverage.”

But he was astute enough to decline a preliminary breathalyzer test.
At first Romo refused to step out of the SUV, saying he’s gonna call his lawyer. Had he been black, a deputy would’ve whooped his ass. CBS placed Romo on indefinite leave, then announced J.J. Watt will serve as his replacement for lead analyst. That means Romo’s contract that pays him $18 million annually is in jeopardy of being terminated. Watt will work alongside Jim Nantz.
“Tony Romo is on leave from his role at CBS Sports until further notice,” the network said in a statement.
Social media reaction was insane.
One commenter wrote, “These field sobriety tests are designed to make even a sober person fail and they make you look like a jackass. Always decline.”
Another person added, “That female cop sounds more drunk than him. She’s annoying and incompetent.”
In Romo’s defense, it’s commonplace to get intoxicated while playing golf.

I felt like a kid in a candy store.
Man… I guzzled so many Bloody Marys🍸, I was completely f*cked up by the 9th hole.
Fortunate for me, my caddy drove.
I was in no condition to get behind the wheel.
Not sure why Romo didn’t hire an Uber.
