LONDON — “Paper Planes” rapper M.I.A. (né Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam) had a bunch of fans until she accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and savior. Now they want nothin’ to do with her bible-reading ass. They prefer she worship Satan. “The fact that the biggest backlash in my career and life I’m facing after saying ‘Jesus is real’ is such a revelation to me,” M.I.A. tweeted. “People who control these apps rather me be a bad girl, than a good one.” The 47-year-old lyricist ruffled feathers when she told conservative swirler Candace Owens she became a “Born Again Christian” after experiencing a supernatural encounter. That’s when M.I.A. descried a “vision of Jesus Christ” that “turned her world upside down.” She’s been the target of vitriol ever since. “Basically, all of my fans might turn against me because they are all progressives who hate people that believe in Jesus Christ in this country,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in a separate interview. “Even if it costs me my career, I won’t lie. I will tell the truth, and I will tell you what’s on my mind and my heart. If I’m coming back now saying ‘Jesus is real,’ there’s a point.”
Born in England and raised via Hindu, M.I.A. grew up thinking Jesus was a “silly story.” But, thanks to her newfound faith, that’s no longer the case. “I think the only clear thing I can say is that even when I had no belief in Jesus Christ and Christianity, and even when I was 100 percent comfortable in Hinduism, it was a Christian God that turned up to save me,” she recounted.
“And I think there is truth in that.”
Still no word on if she descried a black Jesus or a white one.

I had a vision of Jesus also about a month or 2 ago it’s weird how this is happening , maybe he’s close to coming back?
Despite the older songs with a sort of bad girl image, I always liked her and even if her music portrayed that, I had the feeling deep down she was a good person and very talented, so I was a fan. I am not really that surprised because I felt so strongly something like this might happen for her. Because I felt like that about her, I tend to think this might be very sincere. It doesn’t mean she won’t make mistakes on the journey, the path up the hill zigzags. It does say a lot she is saying this given her bad girl image. I don’t think it’s for popularity because it’s likely to cost her more of her old fans.
I hope it’s pure and true. Lots of people claim to be Christian these days…
As a follower of Christ, I can say that we have not any reason to believe that this is not true. The God of all miracles is at work in these ever-changing times.

Praise God! Maya has so much to learn, though… Christianity is far more elegant, freeing and accessible than other paths, by design of God, but there are deep waters to swim out into, spiritually, that will make all other paths seem superficial and nonsensical, for those who want them… Most people have no idea that the longest-lived and most opulent and sophisticated empire on earth was a Christian one: the 1200 year old Byzantine Empire… People have no idea the depth that runs through Christianity, from the charismatics in America to the Greek Orthodox, to Ethiopian Orthodox (Bob Marley converted to)… The archeology, the Biblical scholarship, the history and real science…will make sense of the world we live in and empower in a way that could only come from a loving God, one willing to suffer and die for us, one able to conquer death with death and come out victorious, all within the free will laws… Halleujah! This is a time for discernment like never before, because the spirit of deception is real. I pray for her, and that she will be used by the Holy Spirit. There is none of us that becomes true born again believers that will not have to let go of the things in this world. As the Bible says we must all count the cost of what this life cost, if any of us compromise the faith in Christ Jesus, please repent and keep repenting until the Holy Spirit gives you the strength to leave your sinful lifestyle behind. God, through Jesus is both just and The Justifier!!! He wouldn’t/ couldn’t be just if He didn’t offer mercy and save by Grace because He promised to remember our sins no more. So, yes He is an authority figure but only by freely offering us His mercy and forgiveness via the free gift of Grace (Jesus). I was probably m.I.a biggest fan since galang, then everyone found out about her after paper planes. I was very upset at what the country did to destroy her life. And hide her voice, it really sucks because I saw how she pretty much was shut out of the entire media industry and NO ONE STOOD UP FOR HER but yet SHE WAS STANDING UP FOR EVERYONE ELSE

The fact that M.I.A gave her life to Christ gives me hope that God can also touch and bring to salvation other mainstream celebrities as well.
I love M.I.A. till this day! Her new album “MATA” is great…has some influences of her faith on there. She’s also made songs like “Babylon” and most recently “Gods Garden” that show she’s trying to incorporate her new found faith in her music. Let’s continue to pray and support her!
