MOBILE — The adventures of Pookie & Ray Ray continue. Residents of Mobile, Alabama are in mourning after 25-year-old Brandon McDuffie murdered his own mother, 52-year-old Traci McDuffie, before getting blown to smithereens by his big brother, 32-year-old Brent McDuffie. Get all that? The matricide/fratricide transpired around 5:30 p.m. on June 8, 2025 at their home in the 1200 block of Ross Street. According to reports, Brandon and Traci had contretemps over something trivial. As the argument intensified, Brandon pulled out a gun and opened fire — striking Traci ten times. Then he fired at Brent who shot back — killing Brandon in the process. “The investigation revealed Brandon McDuffie fatally shot his mother, Traci McDuffie, and that’s when Traci’s other son discovered what occurred,” the Mobile Police Department said in a statement.
[Brandon] shot towards the other son, causing the other son to defend himself by shooting Brandon. The death of Brandon McDuffie will be presented to a grand jury.”
Because Brent acted in self-defense, there’s a good chance he won’t serve hard time. “Please continue to lift Brother Brent McDuffie and the family up in prayer during their time of bereavement,” the First Baptist Church wrote in a Facebook post. Social media reaction was wild. One commenter wrote, “Why should this even go to court? Even Stevie Wonder can see it was self-defense.”
Another chimed in with, “Wild Wild West in your own family. We in the last days!”
A third person added, “10 times? 😮 These coddled black men without a male presence in their lives are truly an abomination to the black community. They are truly a SERIOUS problem! THEY ARE overly emotional and spoiled. The bible says “spare the rod, spoil the child.’ Fathers, please stay in your sons’ lives! They need you!”
Scuttlebutt has it Traci showed favoritism towards Brent, which made Brandon jealous.
