JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — When buying your child an Xbox goes tragically wrong. Trevor Lee, 14, was thrown in the slammer after he went “Grand Theft Auto” 🚘 on his parents, 44-year-old David Lee and 45-year-old Brandi Smith-Lee, because they wouldn’t buy him a video game. The patricide-matricide transpired on August 4, 2025 at their residence in Jacksonville, Florida. Trevor reportedly cussed out his parents when they refused to make the purchase. The next day, Trevor found their gun and did his best “Call of Duty” impersonation by barging into their bedroom and opening fire — striking David and Brandi multiple times. Then he called 911 and confessed to killing ’em before sauntering to a nearby church for prayer. “I’m gonna pray first,” Trevor told the dispatcher when she asked him to provide his location. “I need to pray.” Trevor was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Because he’s being tried as an adult, the mulatto teen is facing life in the penitentiary.
“I’ve never seen a young man murder both parents,” Attorney Curtis Fallgatter told reporters. “Obviously, the young man put some thought into it and went and shot both of his parents. It’s a terrible thing, and society deserves the state to file the accurate charges. First-degree murder is the right charge. Prison is going to be a bad place for a 14-year-old. But that’s where he’s going to land unless there’s some mental health issue… psychiatric and his age would be the only two mitigating factors that would help him.”
Trevor is spoiled rotten.
David and Brandi bought him everything he asked for.
The kid couldn’t handle being told “no.”
Case in point: In March 2021, David and Brandi called the police on Trevor who, at 10 years old, threatened to commit suicide because he didn’t get his way.
“This lil boy gives me pure hell,” Brandi wrote on social media.
“Everything I did to my parents I’m getting it back times 10. Y’all keep us lifted up in prayer.”
Trevor is obviously non compos mentis.
Does he belong in prison or a mental health facility?

With history of son’s mental health issues. Why is a gun permitted in the home? Sometimes parents are in denial of their children’s emotional and mental issues. It’s best to stay on treatment before anything like this escalates. So sorry for family.
Please get him evaluated. Don’t forget his Mom was an attention seeker of the internet. She was always humiliating him online in front of thousands of strangers. She was exploiting him for likes, and that had to have some kind of mental effect on him. I’m not saying he was right but that needs to be taken into consideration. These parents don’t understand the effects of entertaining social media vs raising their children properly.

The mother ran the household, the father seemed like a wimp, the son had his own identity and the mother wasn’t having it. Most mothers can’t raise boys to be men and like I sad she ran the house, with her feelings.
I think he stopped at the church, because he felt remorse and possibly that had been his church. It was a mistake and unfortunately his parents had not taught him how to control anger without a weapon. Having someone to call and support him would have been important. Also, guns in households are just danger for everyone. If there had not been a gun, the situation and outcome would have been different.
