LARGO — Man, this is one of the saddest holiday stories ever. Damarcus Coley, 14, remains locked up in a juvenile detention center after he murdered his big sister, 23-year-old Abrielle Baldwin, over some damn Christmas gifts (or lack thereof). The sororicide transpired around 1:45 p.m. on December 24, 2023 in Largo, Florida. According to police reports, the family had gathered at grandma’s house on Christmas Eve to exchange presents. Damarcus and his brother, 15-year-old Darcus Coley, had contretemps over who received better gifts. Abrielle — a single mom of two boys — showed up and intervened, telling Damarcus to calm the f*ck down. That’s when the trigger-happy Grinch pulled out a gun and opened fire — striking Abrielle in the chest as she held her infant son. After yelling “you shot my mothaf*ckin’ sister,” Darcus pulled out his gun and opened fire — striking Damarcus in the stomach. Darcus took off running. Abrielle and Damarcus were transported to the hospital.
The latter underwent emergency surgery and survived.
The former died.
“Through their investigation, detectives learned Damarcus, 15-year-old Darcus Coley, and Abrielle, who are all siblings, went Christmas shopping with their mother and Abrielle’s 11-month-old and six-year-old sons,” the police report stated. “They then went to their grandmother’s home where Damarcus, Darcus, and Abrielle were involved in a verbal altercation over Christmas gifts. After Abrielle told Damarcus to stop arguing because it was Christmas, Damarcus told Abrielle he was going to shoot her and the 11-month-old she was holding in a baby carrier. Damarcus shot Abrielle in the chest while Abrielle was holding the child in the carrier. Shortly thereafter, Darcus exited the residence with another firearm and shot Damarcus because Damarcus shot Abrielle. Darcus then fled the scene, tossing his firearm into a nearby yard. Detectives have been unable to locate the firearm used by Darcus.”
After receiving medical treatment, Damarcus was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, child abuse, and firearm possession. It wasn’t the first time he was arrested. Investigators said Damarcus has a rap sheet comparable to Charles Manson’s — going all the way back to when he was 12 years old. It includes battery on a police officer, grand theft auto, and much more.
After fleeing the scene, Darcus contacted his mother and said he planned to kill himself. He was later taken to a mental health facility where he was charged with attempted first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence for tossing his gun.
Abrielle worked full-time at an assisted living facility while moonlighting as a cosmetologist.

The mother didn’t want those boys. She knew it was a matter of time before the streets or the system took their lives. She didn’t plan on losing her daughter in the process. The mother probably gave up on those boys when they were 10-11 years old. 14 & 15 with firearms. I heard in the police statement. The boys were known to have firearms. So the mother knew! She wanted them gone! She won’t admit but she’s glad, just didn’t want to lose her daughter.

The “ME” generation. At that age I was worried about making sure I saved my babysitting money all year to get evey single family member a meaningful gift. And I’m sure many people reading this did the the same.
