DETROIT — Here’s another reason to keep sex offenders away from your kids. Jarvis Butts, the serial predator convicted in the quietus of 13-year-old Na’Ziyah Harris, apparently took his own life at the age of 43. The alleged suicide transpired inside his cell on March 26, 2026 — just two weeks after the pedo was sentenced to 60 years in prison. Na’Ziyah — a student at J.E. Clark Preparatory Academy — went missing on January 9, 2024 in Detroit, Michigan after egressing her school bus. Surveillance footage shows her sauntering down the sidewalk. Na’Ziyah was supposed to be home around 3 p.m. but family members waited until the next day to notify police. Ain’t that a bitch? To compound matters, Na’Ziyah’s cadaver has yet to be found. The braided teen was last seen wearing a pink and black “Rugrats” coat, a white sweater, and blue jeans.

In the aftermath of a protracted probe, it was determined Na’Ziyah was Ctrl-Alt-Deleted by Jarvis, a family friend who was dating her aunt. Investigators also learned he had been raping and grooming Na’Ziyah since 2022. He even made her gravid. Na’Ziyah sent him a text message that read, “My period haven’t came at all. I’m scared.” Jarvis pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on February 12, 2026. He also pleaded guilty to 5 separate counts of criminal sexual conduct involving 4 other prepubescent victims.

The youngest, just 4 years old.

The oldest, barely 7.

Jarvis raped his own daughter and he sent Na’Ziyah a series of text messages, imploring her to give him a blow job.

He was a nefarious, sick, perverted sumbitch.

As part of a plea bargain, Jarvis agreed to disclose where he stashed the body.

Police found Na’Ziyah’s clothes in the Rouge River area.

But, as previously mentioned, her remains haven’t been located.

Na’Ziyah’s family is still seeking closure.

“Me, as well as other family members and members of the public, have been waiting for two years now to know where Na’Ziyah is,” her cousin, Roxy told reporters.

Social media reaction was venomous.

One commenter wrote, “She’s 13. Why would you wait until the next day to call the cops?”

Another chimed in with, “They need to lock up the entire family and Child Protective Services should be investigated. Everyone failed this kid. Disgusting!”

A third person added, “Don’t get me started on Child Protective Services. They take the kids they don’t need to take and leave the ones who actually need their intervention.”

I can’t even imagine getting any inclination that a man I knew was going around doing such horrible things to children without reporting him. Just despicable how many adults remained silent and allowed these children’s lives/innocence to be destroyed.

  23. Na’Ziyah Harris was neglect by her own Grandmother Annette Harris. Na’Ziyah Harris was S.A for 2 years by Jarvis Butts. And her Aunt Shannon.. this whole story of the family failed. Only Na’Ziyah Cousins try to help Na’Ziyah. Grandma Annette Harris and others need to be change too for Na’Ziyah Harris death. Jarvis Butt S.A. his own daughter and the mom didn’t do anything about it. She need to be lock up too.
